Women’s Basketball: Queensborough vs. Kingsborough CC (01/09/2016) (Recap)

– [David] This is QCC alum
David Russell with Joe Masi. Queensborough Lady Tigers getting ready to host Kingsborough. Each team comes into today’s
game at 0-5 in conference play, but this is actually a big game somehow, because the winner will
only be one game behind BMCC for the fourth and final
spot in the CUNY playoffs, so there are somehow playoff
implications in this game. Kingsborough Wave playing more
like the Kingsborough puddle. Ward puts it in, and it’s 7-4. – [Joe] That is obviously
Ward’s move and she makes that. – [David] Hahn, jumper. No good. There’s an offensive rebound. Back out to Hahn, baseline
jumper is no good. And rebounded by Burch. Nice play by Barnes. Can she finish? Puts it in off glass. Queensborough, seven,
Denise Barnes, seven. Time out, Queensborough. (players shouting) Ward puts it in, it’s 9-8. Queensborough takes back the lead. Kingsborough in the 2-3 zone which Freeman just
splits, but then misses. There’s Marva Dudley-Adams off glass. – [Joe] Nice, nice. She’s a good player. She’s stepped up the
last time we were here. – [David] Freeman to the
basket, count it, and the foul! – [Joe] Very nice move! Did you see that move to the right? She was right on it. – [David] Well, it was 10-9
Kingsborough after one, but Queensborough would score
all 10 points in this quarter. They get it across half court in time. Hahn. (loud whistle)
Nice pass. Count it, and the foul! Jessica Price puts it in. – [Joe] Good left hand there by Price. Yeah, Queensborough would
love to keep it at this pace. This is a good pace for them. – [David] Burch hits a jumper. Burch and Ward have seven points apiece to lead the Lady Tigers. It’s 25-13. (coaches shouting) Friendly roll. Apple has her first points of the game. It’s 29-15. Wasn’t pretty, but
Queensborough leads by 14. – [Joe] No, the Tigers
did what they had to do, which is take advantage of the
weaknesses of Kingsborough, which are plenty, and not turn it over, and take advantage, and they
did, to a tune of 29 to 15, so you get a win on the board,
you get a win on the board, and then you work it, and as you said, they have a very tough task
coming up next time, so. – [David] That second quarter, 20 to five. Well, the Kingsborough
scoring, it’s Barnes, 10, Ciceron, four, and Price, three. Ward. Off glass, nice move by Anais Ward. She’s in double digits with 11 points. – Ooh!
– Ward. – [Joe] Nice passes, huh? – [David] Hey, it’s Anais Ward again. – [Joe] Now obviously, if
they’re gonna win this game, they’re gonna need Barnes
to go off somewhere and… – [David] And Queensborough
to miss every shot for the rest of the game. Ward puts it in. Hey, nice game for Ward, 15 points. Hey, she’s only losing
to Kingsborough by four. – [Joe] 42 to 19, it is at
blowout proportions right now as the great Marv Albert would say. Blowout proportions! – [David] Kingsborough has nine points in the last 18 minutes. Ahmed with the jumper. It’s 52-24. (players shouting) Freeman to Burch. Burch left alone for three, and it’s good. And it’s 55-24. – [Joe] They’re gonna run it out now. – [David] A nice win for
Queensborough, 59-26. (loud buzzing)
Look at the Kingsborough scoring by quarters, 10, five, seven, six. For Joe Masi, this is
QCC alum David Russell. Thanks for watching, the final score, Queensborough, 59, Kingsborough, 26.
