Why Sports Matter | Blake Bortles

– Hi, Blake Bortles, Formerly quarterback of the Jaguars, now I play for the Los Angeles Rams. Sports have always been
a huge part of my life. It was all we did growing up was play sports, me and my brother. Both of my parents were
athletes growing up. So it was kind of how can we play as many sports as possible and you know, that was kind of our thing. We had to pick a sport and have one to play each season. And then as we got older and
got placed with the high school we kind of started
focusing in on one or two. I played football and baseball. My brother played baseball and basketball. And we loved every second of it. I think the value of teamwork, humility, accountability, responsibility, having peers hold you accountable. In that, you know, brotherhood or the close knit environment type deal that sports creates is I think incredible and something everybody should be able to experience. It’s always been a part of my life ever since I was allowed to play. From three years old on so I don’t know. I don’t know anything outside of being somebody that plays sports. I think it’s just any
time you can give back to the community and you have a platform to be able to do that. We want to, you know, have everybody come out and be a a part of something, hopefully raise some money and then give it all away to our causes or you know, first responders
and mentally disabled people or whatever the cause may be. I think helping other people out is something that everybody should try and be a part of as much as they can.
