AFTER THE GAME, THOSE JERSEYS ARE PRESENTED TO THE FAMILIES OF THOSE CANCER PATIENTS. DENNIS WAS A YOUTH COACH FOR EAST RIDGE, A VOLUNTEER WHO MADE EVERY KID FEEL SPECIAL….AND THAT CERTAINLY INCLUDED PATRICK, HIS SON. THEY LOST A GREAT MAN IN THEIR COMMUNITY, WHICH MADE TONIGHT’S TACKLE CANCER GAME …BETWEEN RIVALS WOODBURY-AND-EAST RIDGE VEY SPECIAL. EDINA HOSTING EDEN PRAIRIE TONIGHT…THIRD QUARTER..HORNETS DOWN 14-7….GEORGE SANDVEN…CONNECTS WITH HAMZA MALIM FOR A HUGE GAIN…THEN LATER IN THE DRIVE….JONATHAN BUNCE…BARRELS IN FOR THE GAME-TYING TOUCHDOWN…BUNCE PUTS THE HORNETS ON HIS BACK TONIGHT…4TH QUARTER…THIS BUNCE TOUCHDOWN ENDS UP BEING THE GAME WINNER…AS EDINA KNOCKS OFF THE EAGLES…21-14. A JOB WELL DONE BY THE SHAKOPEE CROSS-COUNTRY TEAMS, THEY REVIVED A SABER HOMECOMING TRADITION, RUNNING THE GAME BALL FROM THE OPPONENTS FIELD TO THEIRS….IT JUST SO HAPPENED THEY HOSTED STILLWATER, SO SOME 55 MILES THEY RELAYED THE FOOTBALL…MOSTLY RUNNING TRAILS TO GET IT TO SHAKOPEE HIGH IN TIME TONIGHT.
