Test games for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games take place in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan plays host to the 5th Asian Indoor
and Martial Arts Games. The event begins in September, but already
test games for swimming, weightlifting and kickboxing were held. Our Kim Hyesung take us to the thick of the
action in Ashgabat. Front kick, side kick, rising knee strike. Straight punch from the front hand, back hand,
and an uppercut. Opponents in red and blue are competing in
the ring, showing off their sophisticated techniques to lay waste to their rivals. “Ashgabat 2017, the fifth Asian indoor and
martial arts games, is less than five months away. And here at the Ashgabat Olympic Complex,
test games are underway this week for some of the 21 events, like kickboxing.” Among the test events, kickboxing is extra
special as it’s doubling as the 2017 Asian Kickboxing Confederation Championship. Around 290 athletes from 17 countries, including
Korea, Turkmenistan, Iran, India and Afghanistan are taking part, categorized by their weight
and style. As the competitors, especially those from
the host nation Turkmenistan, get on the scoreboard, the crowd cheers and claps. It’s also a good opportunity for those just
finding their feet in big competitions. “Coming here for the test games has been
a great experience. I was able to see techniques performed by
athletes from other countries, some of whom have fantastic kicks and punches. It really fires me up ” “I’m going to the finals. I’ll try my best to win a medal, but even
if I lose, it will be a good experience for me. It will push me to train harder when I return
to Korea.” The fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games,
the first to ever take place in Central Asia, will run from September 17th to 27th in Ashgabat. Kim Hyesung, Arirang News, Ashgabat
