Real Racing 3 Modding Tutorial EP 1: Customizing in a higher level: How to install a mod file?

Hey guys, make sure you like and follow
my page on Facebook by clicking the link down below, there I post on a regular
basis, without being said, enjoy the video! Hey what’s up, welcome back guys for the
rebooted series of real racing 3 modding tutorial. As for the reason I’m
making the reboot series, check this video on the right upper corner which
I’ve explained it all in that video. If you want mod money or gold, then that’s not the place for you I’ve become a legitimate player for a
while already. Basically my tutorial is all about modeling graphical assets of the game so make sure you subscribe to my channel and stay tuned of a tutorial series if
you want to know more about it. To start things off I’ll be explaining the most
general process of installing your mod files into the game, let’s say you want
to install a vinyl mod for the… well, for a car. Before heading to the files, let’s talk
about which file manager we are going to use. My top recommendations are this, this, this and this that’s it. After choosing the file manager we’re using we need to
be aware of one thing if we are using the file manager on Android we actually
need to go to the app settings and enable the app to show hidden files if
the one you’re using doesn’t have such option follow my recommendation list I
just mentioned and if you are an iOS user and want to install the mod make
sure a phone is jailbroken and use file managers like the iFunbox. For Android
users, another alternative would be connecting a phone to your computer, the
windows file manager will show it all (Mac and Linux will also do ;p) okay now we’ve already deal with to file
majors then let’s go and find a vinyl you want to install in the description
below I’ve provided a plenty of websites for you to download mod vinyl files, if
you want the most updated mod vinyls in the game be sure to join the Facebook
groups I mentioned in the description too here we are in a website where you
can download a huge variety of vinyl mods. Kudos to Tanto Arc (and actually a lot more livery creators) he creates this webpage and contributes a lot of its
design too. If you want to know how to create your own mod vinyl files be sure to keep
track with my channel I will be doing a video tutorial on that too if you
notice there is no search bar in that website so in order to do so you need to
click web version and in (at) the bottom of the website to see the full website… full
version website with the search bar so now we just randomly download one of the files here and later on I’ll be explaining what’s inside of those files as you may notice when you attempt to
download a mod like the vinyl mod in Real Racing 3 there are multiple files
or links with different labels for you to download in most cases you only
require one of them in order to know which one is the correct one you will
have to do the following steps first first download the app cpu-z this app
basically tells you the full specification of your device what I need
to check out is the GPU renderer section remember this part for example mine is
adreno so I have to remember the term Adreno because adreno is the term of
the GPU of my device and the game have different types of graphical files
depending on the devices GPU if you download a wrong mod file which is actually
incompatible your device’s GPU the game will crash or the corresponding
graphical assets will appear pink and black meaning that the game cannot run
the mod file correctly second after getting to know what GPU your device is
using you have to pick one which actually suits your own device so for me
I’m definitely going to download the mod under the Adreno link because I’ve got
an adreno device, then pretty much that’s it. Now here is a table of the mod
file formats corresponding to the applicable GPUs. As for iOS players as
the current idevices are having PowerVR GPUs just go straight for the PowerVR
format mod files. so here we are in the ES File Explorer
in Android and first of all we need to get to Android data so this data folder is comprised of the app data (day-ter?) the data of all your apps in your phone
so you can see, yea, Facebook, ES Explorer Google Drive and of course this,
Real Racing 3 and it’s called com.ea .games.r3_row, and for
some of you it may appear as com.ea .games.r3_na, so what’s the
difference is um the one with um with row are ro ro w is the international
version of the game and those with Na at at the end are the North American
version of the game and what’s inside the folder are actually the same so no
worries about that and there we have the files and files is obviously the game
files and you may notice that the weird weird file beside this folder the BMW m3
GT 2004 dot DDS, well that’s actually the vinyl (vin-vil) file I put in advance of the
recording, so let’s copy this now let’s copy this to the desired directory (which I didn’t) so
let’s tap in files and there we can see lots of folders here and you may notice
there are two slightly faded folders and it implies that they are actually hidden
folders that’s why I told you guys to enable showing hidden files and folders
in the app so click in this one dot Depot,
I won’t be explaining other folders in here because they are not important in
terms of the game modding so tapping the .depot folder and there you can see
yeah there are many things inside this folder it consists of the major data of
the game including game audio driver um the effects like the, some tire
smokes, lens flare etc of course cars and vehicles the HUD interface, um yum tracks
yeah the they have the files of the tracks and and more oh I just realized that I can’t
install the mod on the m3 gt2 because my beautiful Most Wanted design will be
gone because of installing the mod, so now I’ll be installing an awesome vinyl
on the Nissan Silvia instead. Welcome back guys to the vehicles folders so
let’s so now I change my mind to install mod on the Nissan Silvia s15 so now here
is the file for the car so let’s click in so inside a car folder well
there are graphical files for the car, like the car badges, lights, wheels and windows
etc um and of course the livery folder the livery folder consists of all the
car’s liveries or vinyls, whatever you like to say so as you may notice
different files represents the different stock color of the vinyl design or the
color of the car and all those files are in the format of atc.dds.z and right
down below as you can see um speedH .atc.dds,
is my mod vinyl file which is in atc.dds format.
Oh don’t freak out guys don’t freak out guys that is normal
the stock dds.z files are the encrypted versions of DDS files by Firemonkey. Firemonkey did this probably because they don’t want people stealing
their creation that easily. I actually know the way to decode them back to the
normal DDS format but I will just talk about them in future episode because
they are more advanced stuff about modeling vinyls (and more), so I don’t talk about
that now so therefore the game anyway the game can read both formats, encrypted
and not encrypted. So the basic theory of installing the mod is just to replace
the original files the dds.z files files with the mod files (dds) we can’t add and
we can’t add a mod files just to add as an extra slot of the colors because if you
do that, there would be just nothing(IDK WHAT I WAS SAYING) So okay so let’s say I want
to replace this, the progressive vinyl what I’m doing here is to copy its name
but not the entire name of the car (vinyl), I only need its name before the “.z” ,
don’t copy “.z”, we just need here so we well I’ll just cut it and I just
rename it to something random so the other game can’t read it and I’ll just
rename this mod files into this one paste so now the mod files have the same
has the same name as the original file but without the Z and the game will
still read it trust me so that’s it the mod is done so let’s
check it out nice that would be my first time seeing
that mod actually, I haven’t seen that mod in the game in person before okay
hello sweetie other than okay Silvia
okay official *BOOM* See, you have successfully installed them all
congratulations (おめでと) you you
