Well – it may not see one like this again this year. The Hilltoppers take their perfect 4-and-oh conference resume up against the regining champ – Aquinas. 2nd half. Onalaska’s Hallie Schmeling hits the 3 pointer to put the Hilltoppers up 10… But the Blugolds go on a run. Madessa Collins gets her own rebound and put back. Aquinas up 1… Closing minute. Ona down 2. but not for long. Jalyn Dobbins with the tough shot to tie this up. we’re going to OT.. Skip ahead to OT 2. more Aquinas. more Collins. this time the nice move to the basket for the lead. but Ona forces a *third overtime* In third overtime. Aquinas’ Maeve Miller drives to the basket and lays it in for the 2 point lead. Blugolds hit their free-throws from there and go on to win… 60-56 Aquinas in triple overtime. What a game… First place on the line in the Coulee.. G-E-T’s last conference loss – nearly two calendar years ago. West Salem – 7th in the state in D3 – looks to stop the streak. 1st half. West Salem’s Jillian Olson drives baseline and lays it in. Panthers up 1… Back come the Red Hawks. Madison Schmidt hits the floater. G-E-T now leads by 1… More West Salem though. on the inbound play. Jillian Olson takes the pass and lays it in plus the foul. they’re up 2 at this point. West Salem led by nine at the half and hung on. 42-35 to overtake first in conference… On Tuesday Caledonia boys basketball responded to their weekend loss to G-E-T – by hanging 99 spot on Southland. Tonight – another chance for a big headline at home… 12-0 St. Charles is in. Ranked 7th in class AA. Caledonia ranked 2nd. These two teams – can – score -the – basketball. 1st half.. Owen King on the break.. He dumps it off to colton Lampert who lays it in. Caledonia up 19-17. St Charles hanging in there. Luke Leistkow with the and 1. things all tied up at 21 at the break. 2nd half action. Lampert spots up and knocks down the trey ball. Caledonia ties things up at 34. and they woudnt look back… King with the alley oop pass to Gavin Schroeder. Warriors with a 44-41 lead. And they hang on behind 24 from Owen King.. We came out with a little more enthusium. First half we didnt take care of the ball very well and we didnt front enough, didnt have help side d, but second half we cracked down and played better defense Hockey. This mascot – brand new to the rink – one week old. Doesn’t even have a name yet. Someone name it… Here’s a name for you. Max Hengel – grade 12. Veteran decision on the 3 on 2. And then a visit into the boards. Love it. And it was a physical first period from here. Both goalies – busy – and playing well. Still in the first watch number 9 – Zack Hanno. The nifty backhander – sneaks it home. Hanno’s 11th – tied at one after one. And La Crescent and their Mascot escape tonight with a 5-4 win at home…
