Fire crews near West Salem also worked in the cold tonight… A head-on crash on Highway 16 near Moos Road at about 6-15 left a truck fully engulfed in flames. The other vehicle involved ended up in a nearby corn field. Luckily . Tri-State Ambulance says everyone was able to escape the crash with only minor injuries. Traffic on Highway 16 was limited for a short time while crews worked to clear the scene. Panthers trying to get back in this one as Athnos gets in the paint again, this time with the assist to David Lattos for the easy bucket. But that big run turns out to be the difference. Reedsburg wins 59-45. West Salem girls hosting ten-and-oh Melrose-Mindoro. The Mustangs up big in the second half as Emily Herzberg dishes to Mesa Byom for the easy two. No quit in the Panthers though as they grab a couple offensive boards that leads to a open bunny shot for Brooke Bentzen. A record moment in this one as Junior Katie Christopherson of Mel-Min leaks out on the fast break and gets the layup to fall for her 1,001th career point. Melrose-Mindoro with the 69-37 victory to remain perfect on the season. Bangor has won five straight since their loss to Mel-Min. tonight hosting Westby in the final game of their holiday tourney. First half. Jaclynn Freit grabs the board and fires a dime up ahead to Emma Wittmershaus. She finishes it off to give the Cardinals the early lead… Westby trying to hang around. Kenzie Von Ruden takes her defender off the bounce. And she knocks down the mid-range jumper. But Bangor takes over after that. Pass goes inside to Wittmershaus and the entire defense collapses down on her. She gets it out to Courtney Osterle who takes an advantage of the open look… Bangor rolls to a 54-20 victory. C-F-C and Stratford the other game played today in Bangor. Second half. Makenna Gabel grabs the rebound. Takes off the other way and goes coast-to-coast for the layup. Pirates lead 29-18… Later on. Lexi Schmidtkecht swings it to Dacotah Rollinger. She rises and fires for three. CFC up by 11… Pirates go on to win by that margin as they win 50-39… First day of the Aquinas Classic. the Blugold boys taking on Lincoln. In the first half Lincoln’s Mitchell Olson makes a 3 pointer tieing the game 3 to 3. Later in the first half Aquinas’s Conley Malone steals the ball and scores giving the Blugolds a 18 to 17 lead. Still in the first half Aquinas’s Brandon Merfeld makes a layup as they now lead by three. Big second half for the Blugolds as Aquinas wins 83-53. Prairie du Chien going up against Saint Croix Central. Near the end of the first half Prairie Du Chien’s Gavin Gillitzer scores tying the game up 26 – 26 Second half. Prairie Du Chien’s Cory Check scores giving the Blackhawks a 48 to 40 lead. However Saint Croix Central has a strong finish and they win 56-53.
