Mobile Gets Ready for 5th Quarter Classic

THERE’S A COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME SATURDAY NIGHT AT LADD-PEEBLES STADIUM. MOBILE WILL HOST TWO OUT OF TOWN TEAMS FOR THE 5-TH QUARTER CLASSIC…. AND IT’S HOPED THIS COULD BE THE START OF A NEW TRADITION IN THE CITY. NEWS FIVE’S ALLEN CARTER HAS THE STORY. FANS DOWN HERE CANNOT WAIT FOR SATURDAY’S BIG. HOPEFULLY REVENGE ON THE TABLE AS ALABAMA TAKES ON OLE MISS. BUT THAT IS HAPPENING IN OXFORD. AND HERE IN MOBILE – WE’RE HOSTING A BIG GAME IN OUR OWN RIGHT. Danny Corte / MOBILE SPORTS AUTHORITY: we’re going to bring this in this year and see how it is supported and going on with future classics. THE FIRST 5-TH QUARTER WILL FEATURE TWO HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES – FLORIDA A&M AND TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY. William Carroll / FLORIDA A&M ALUMNI: tuskeegee and famu has been a big game for years and we haven’t played tuskeegee for a while but it has always been a big clash this game. ONE PERSON WHO WILL BE WATCHING INTENTLY – FORMER MOBILE CITY COUNCILMAN AND ACTUALLY FLORIDA A&M FREE SAFETY WILLIAM CARROLL. SOT: in order to enjoy an hbcu football game you have got to hear the band, you got to feel the crowd you got to dance a little bit so I am going to be where the rubber hits the road, I am going to be in the midst of the crowd and I am going to enjoy the game. OVER 12-THOUSAND TICKETS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SOLD – REALLY GOOD NEWS FOR MOBILE BECAUSE WITH BOTH OF THESE TEAMS COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN – THAT MEANS TRAVELING FAN BASES. SOT: we hope to have 15 or 16thousand in the stands with more than half of those being from out of town and that would obviously be a multi-million dollar impact for the city of mobile and mobile county. SOT: people spending the night and people spending money on downtown dauphin street and downtown it is a big economic impact for our city so no matter what the outcome this is a huge step in the right direction. IN MOBILE ALLEN CARTER NEWS FIVE. THE TEAMS GET IN TOMMORROW AND THERE ARE A HOST OF EVENTS — INCLUDING A CONCERT AND PARADE BEFORE KICKOFF SATURDAY AT 6- OCLOCK.
