LeBron James | After They Were Famous | L.A. Lakers

After LeBron James would make the move from
the Cleveland Cavaliers to the LA Lakers for the 2018 to 2019 season. After LeBron James would surpass Michael Jordan
on the NBA’s career scoring list. and there would be countless discussions on who the actual GOAT is. After LeBron James would be benched for the
remainder of the 2019 season enjoying some downtime for the first time in 14 years. Since 2011, LeBron he has been ranked the
best player in the NBA by ESPN and Sports Illustrated but there was actually a period
in time where he was America’s most disliked athlete and people were burning his jerseys. If there was a Mount Rushmore for Basketball
LeBron James face would certainly make the mural. With four league MVPs and three Finals MVPs
to his credit and with nine straight NBA Finals under his belt this season we witnessed LeBron
make the move to LA and fall short of making it to the Playoffs, he won’t even be playing
for the remainder of the season. Typically with After They Were Famous videos there
is usually a scandal surrounding the celebrity but with LeBron there have been no arrests,
no drug or alcohol issues and no infidelities but still there is a lot of ground to cover

video. Also he’s got a son, LeBron James Jr, let
me know if you guys want me to make a Before They Were Famous on him. Sound off in the comments down below. Now let’s get into this video. For LeBron’s full come up story you can of
course check out his Before They Were Famous video we made back in early 2017: In our last video we wrapped things up with
LeBron’s rookie year so this gives us a good 14 years to cover both and off the court. After being drafted in the first round to
his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron went on to win NBA Rookie Of The Year. He became the first player of the Cavaliers
to receive the honour and just the third player in NBA history to average at least 20 points,
5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game as a rookie unfortunately the team failed to make it to
the playoffs that year. The next year he earned his first NBA All
Star selection for 2004 to 2005. He began setting scoring records for Cleveland
but again the team failed to make the playoffs. Off the court it was in 2004 that he welcomed
his first child, LeBron James Jr, or Brony. He also made moves early on to give back. During his first year in the NBA he set up
the LeBron James Family Foundation helping out families in his hometown of Akron Ohio. At the 2006 All Star Game he led the East
to a victory and was named NBA All-Star Game MVP. It was this year he would finally lead his
team to the playoffs, a first for Cleveland since 1998 but they were unfortunately beaten
in the 2nd round. The next season he would give us his game
winning lay up with 2 seconds on the clock which ESPN has ranked the performance as the fourth
greatest in modern NBA playoff history. Despite these efforts Cleveland were again
eliminated playoffs. Back home LeBron and his high school sweetheart
Savannah Brinson welcomed thier second child Bryce. For the 07 – 08 season he became the Cleveland
Cavaliers all time leading scorer and he was the highest in the league with 30 points per
game. For the third year in a row Cleveland made
it to the playoffs but fell short of making it to the finals, again being eliminated in
the 2nd round. LeBron took home his first Olympic gold medal
in 2008 which he would do again in 2012. In the 2008 to 2009 season James became the
first Cavalier to win the MVP Award this year his team made it to the conference finals
but lost in game 6 to the Orlando Magic. following the loss in Game 6, James immediately
left the floor without shaking hands with his opponents. Something similar would happen the next season
after the team lost to the Celtics. This time the crowd turned on LeBron booing
him at his time of defeat. It was time for LeBron to make a change, he
became a free agent and was courted by the Bulls, the Clippers, Miami Heat, New York
Knicks, New York Jets and of course the Cavaliers. On July 8th during a televised special on
ESPN he announced his decision to join the Heat teaming up with Chris Bosh and Dwayne
Wade. They were also free agents, and they were
doing a little talking behind the scenes. The televised event raised $5 Million dollars
for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich Connecticut and uh, even still LeBron’s decision earned
him plenty of flack from the NBA community. Some fans were so angry they even recorded themselves doing the unthinkable… they burned his jerseys It was during this time that LeBron had become
one of if not the most disliked American athlete. The phrase “taking my talents to South Beach”
became a punch line for critics. But LeBron was looking at options outside
of just basketball. He set up SpringHill Entertainment, his production
company that produced a documentary about his high school days titled “More Than A
Game”. For the 2010 to 2011 season James would be
booed every time he touched the ball while facing off against the Cavaliers. Despite the negative pushback well LeBron
admitted this fed him to play with an angrier style and this led the Miami Heat to make it to the playoffs. him and his new team had made it to the finals but they wouldn’t take home a win against the Dallas Mavericks. At a New Years eve party while ringing in 2012 LeBron
proposed to Savannah Brinson and the two wed in San Diego two years later. He also expressed sign of activism. Following the passing of Trayvon Martin who
was shot by police office George Zimmerman at age 17. He wore a hoodie protesting the child’s death
and wrote a message to Martin on his game shoes. The next season he dropped his villain persona
and was named MVP for the third time. Despite Chris Bosh being off the court with
an injury Miami defeated Oklahoma City for their second-ever championship and James’
first ever championship win. The next year LeBron James was red hot, he
was again named MVP and took Miami on 27 game winning streak. The team made it to the finals and defeated
the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 earning LeBron his 2nd Championship win. The next season San Antonio would get pay
back squashing the Heats hopes for a Three Peat. For the 2014 – 2015 Season LeBron revealed
via an essay with Sports Illustrated that he would be returning to the Cavaliers and
the team acquired Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving but these two would face injuries during the
finals. Despite LeBron’s efforts the team came second
to the Golden State Warriors. This year he also became a father for the
third time to baby Zhuri. He also tried out his Hollywood chops appearing
in the film Trainwreck. LeBron was also productive off the court educating
himself he’s tried to learn as much as he can about black history, especially America’s
civil rights period and the likes of Martin Luther King, Booker T. Washington, Sojourner
Truth, Malcolm X and Rosa Parks. The next year Cleveland emerged victorious,
winning the city’s first professional sports title in 52 years and becoming the first team
in NBA history to come back from a 3–1 series deficit in the Finals. James became just the third player to record
a triple-double in an NBA Finals Game 7, and behind series averages of 29.7 points, 11.3
rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 2.6 steals per game, he also became the first
player in league history to lead both teams in all five statistical categories for a playoff
round, culminating in a unanimous Finals MVP selection. The next two years he wouldn’t be so lucky
in his finals rematches with Golden State. This leads us to his most recent season with
the LA Lakers In an interview with Sports Illustrated, James’s agent, Rich Paul, he
explained, “In 2010, when he went to Miami, it was about championships. In 2014, when he went back to Cleveland, it
was about delivering on a promise. In 2018, it was just about doing what he wants
to do.” Now with LeBron on the team for the 2018 – 2019
season the Lakers were hopeful to end their post-season drought of the past five seasons. However, James only played a total of 55 games,
the least court action he’s ever seen in a season. On March 22, they were officially eliminated
from the playoffs again after losing to the Brooklyn Nets, 106–111. With this loss, James missed the playoffs
for the first time since the 2004–05 season, and ultimately his ninth consecutive Finals
appearance. We found out soon after that LeBron would
be sitting out for the remainder of the season to rest a recurring groin injury. During is down time LeBron will also opt out
of Team USA’s World Cup. But he’s got plenty to do with his off time. His production company SpringHill Entertainment
are behind the upcoming Space Jam 2. As well as the sports documentary “What’s
My Name: Muhammad Ali,” and a remake to House Party. You’ve also undoubtedly seen is HBO interview
show the Shop. As for the rest of the LeBron story and legacy,
