Is there a clear favorite in the AFC South? | SportsPulse

– [Lorenzo Reyes] The NFL
season is just around the corner and this is a great time of the year. All teams are undefeated, full of hope and dreaming
of a path to the postseason. We’re going division by division to look at how every team will
and won’t make the playoffs. Up next we dive in to the AFC South where each team has a legitimate
shot to win the division. Let’s start with the Jaguars
who sputtered after they played in the AFC Championship
Game two years ago. Their running game should be fine and the defense should
continue to be stingy. So if Nick Foles takes the next step, the Jags are in, but if Foles doesn’t
outproduce Blake Bortles, it’s gonna be another long
season in Jacksonville. As long as the Texans
keep putting up points with Deshaun Watson at quarterback and DeAndre Hopkins at receiver, Houston will get in, but as long as the offensive
line keeps allowing sacks at a league-high clip, they won’t. Just the opposite, the Indianapolis Colts
gave Andrew Luck plenty of time to throw and he posted
a superb campaign in 2018. Building on last year’s league-low 18 sacks allowed is essential. That’s how they make it in to the playoffs for the second time in Frank
Reich’s two years in Indy, but if they can’t find a longterm solution in the rushing game and can’t solve their turnover
problem, they’ll miss out. Tennessee improved as the year went on and just missed out on the playoffs, in Mike Vrabel’s first
season with the Titans. If offensive coordinator Arthur
Smith feeds Derrick Henry and Marcus Mariota stays healthy, the Titans will play in January, but if the defense regresses
after a solid season though, they’ll be watching from home.
