Flipping the Switch | Athletes Connected

– Hey guys, my name is Maggie Bettez. I’m a senior captain on the
Michigan field hockey team. In my four years, my team and I qualified for the NCAA every year,
played in three Elite Eights, one Final Four, and won three
Big 10 Conference titles. Something I learned a long time ago that has helped me throughout my career is something I call, flipping the switch. It’s a small physical cue that reminds me to move onto the next play, and to not be so hard on myself. It also helps me make
sure that one mistake doesn’t become two. And this is how I do it. (calming electronic music) Sports are all about who can
respond best under pressure, and I have found that those who deal best with their mistakes, set themselves apart, and excel at the next level. Creating your own
physical cue can help you get out of the negative spiral, and move on to the next play. (relaxing electronic music)
