  1. Raise the minimum wage, and you’ll raise the price of food, that cheapazz cricket phone plan, and everything else. Buncha dumbasses.

  2. Come on you could take a 11 million of his wage bill and he still has 20 and spread the other 11 amongst the lower payed but no 20 million wouldn't be enough

  3. The US is a capitalistic state, run by people (mostly males) who embrace fully the system. No reasons for them to change anything. Therefore it is great that people like this congresswoman to ask uncomfortable questions- which Republicans with little doubt will call socialist ideas and try to nip in the butt…

  4. Entry level jobs are not supposed to be a job to take care of an entire family. It is a job to learn how to be a productive part of the company as they stay with the company. The question is flawed.

  5. greed is one of the deadly sins. he will get his as the others will get theirs. all the money in the world will not save them.

  6. Bravo! These CEOs get paid millions and yet their employees can’t get a pay raise. They are clueless to a typical employee daily struggles.

  7. I like how everyone is praising her like she's the best thing ever. First, Irvine is incredibly expensive to live even for a married couple with decent jobs. This scenario is flawed as mentioned before, an entry level job isn't meant to provide for a family. If this person is real, they can move somewhere more affordable. Also, yes he could pay this one person the extra $500/month and not notice it, but you can't pay just one person more that's favoritism so you have to pay all employees more. If JP paid all it's 256k, employees $500 more each month so this suggests that's $1.5 billion annually. If you're invested in the stock market or have a 401k, you're a capitalist because the only way to make more money is when the corporations make more money so stop complaining about companies making so much, people have the choice to stay at a company or move on to something better.

  8. Has anybody thought that if she needs more money than maybe she should get a better job? Or perhaps get married before having children so there would be two incomes to support this family? Who are you to say this CEO makes too much money? Who tells you how much you are ALLOWED to make? A bank teller is a easy job for people that dont want to get dirt on their hands. Go work in a factory for double if your situation is so dire. Dont make the mistake of believing every job is a career. If you have a no skill job, you get paid no skill money.

  9. The answer is simple. Tell the woman to find another job and ask her to tell her friends not to make the same poor decisions she made to put herself in this situation.

  10. Diamond Jim Jamie Dimon was an incredible disappointment and on national TV, to boot! This is what we have to deal with, too. At least there are a couple advocates in the House. They are all women, too.

  11. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so the representatives need to keep repeating their message to the wealthy elitists who never think about struggling working people. Someone who makes 31 million dollars just doesn't care or think about the struggles of the working class.

  12. Maybe Chase employees should strike! That always seems to work, when it's a mass effort and done correctly. Diamon sounded like a moron.

  13. I don't understand! Mz. Porter used logic, facts, a bit of history, good math. skills, and common sense. How can she possibly be a Democrat? She took a wrong turn somewhere!

  14. Common Sense,, a Rich greedy Hording man,,, I Assume attrition must Be very High,,, you cann't Live in California on that income

  15. 👍👍👏👏To all the Freshman! They are showing what the real world looks like. Its not always suit & ties, marbled office floors with desk made granite.

  16. Here’s an idea single mom move out of Irvine it’s obviously to expensive there if you can’t pay that rent I don’t get payed 16$hr and live fine I know single moms who make less than that and are not in the negative 👎🏼

  17. "How should she manage these expenses while working?"
I have a few suggestions: Don't have a child, or don't drive away it's father.
Just because some people are dumb and make mistakes gives them no right to force the unlucky, incapable and inexperienced out of work they otherwise would have without a higher minimum wage.

  18. Now for those confused MIDDLE CLASS VOTERS AND SOME POOR who fell for make AMERIKKA GREAT AGAIN.THIS WOMAN JUST. BROKE down basic math problem that proves if you not RICH. You don't fit..Need to present that Math problem 2 all big CEO'S

  19. Right; so I've found rentals for $1,150 within a 20 min drive, after some brief googling. I'm not sure how credible the rest of her figures are.

Here in Vienna Austria, I pay €365 ($405) per YEAR to have trains, subways, trams and busses, to bring me anywhere in Vienna I want to go. Perhaps if Congress made a similarly priced option in Irvine, this lady could save $4000+ per year, or $330+ per calendar month.

What's that? $780 per month so far I've saved her. Does that get her back in the black?

  20. I wonder if he " thought about it " somehow I don´t think he did , Ideologues think about nothing which may challenge thier faith,

  21. If you give a raise to the lowest earning employees, you also have to raise the salary of the next lowest earning employees, otherwise they will earn more than their direct superior or something. Then you have to raise everyone's salary.

  22. A. Find another job
    B. Dont have kids out of wedlock
    C.Prepare better for life

Are we all supposed to go to our bosses and do this clown show?
Yea empower woman to the point she is taught she doesn't need a husband and this is the result…

  23. I would say to write my Congress personal a letter as to why California is so expensive to live in. Why is the cost of living so high here compared to anywhere else in the country. Why is gasoline $4 a gallon here in California and $2 a gallon in other states?

  24. He cares nothing about people working for him so he can his millions, he is probably thinking how he can reduce his staff so he can make more money. People such as him and others like him just think of making more money because enough is never enough.

  25. I have an idea: stop paying people to prepare you, badly it seems, for being questioned by congress and, instead, use that money to pay your employees a living wage and, thus, not have to be questioned by congress. Just saying.

  26. If he lowers his own salary by $10mil and then lowers another 10 executive salaries by half a mil. each, they could make up that $567/mo shortfall for over 26,000 employees. Something tells me he could still survive on $21,000,000 per year. And that’s just his salary! Greed will ultimately be the downfall of this country.

  27. The answer is women need to make better decisions. Why would you have two kids and work at Bank? Where is your husband? If $16 is not enough, wait to have kids or learn a skill to earn $20 or $25 an hour.. why is it society’s job keep one persons legs closed or to make them more money? If $16 an hour is too little study and get out of Chase bank! Why is this hypothetical
Women living in such an expensive place in the country?

  28. ???? I think otherwise, Katie Porter is totally irresponsible, choosing to bully a high achiever instead of policy reviews. The CEO deserves a medal for not humiliating the Representative and the presenter should reflect on his blinkered outlook

  29. What kind of BS is this? JPMC like any other company have salary structures. People can work there or not. It's their choice.

  30. he can't just raise that person's pay. The entire structure would have to be changed and that would require a lot of analysis and thought, i.e., he'd have to think about it after the analysis was submitted to him for consideration. Neither Ms. Porter nor this buttfuck anchor have ever run a corporation – obviously.

  31. Talking heads on MSNBC and CNN should be the ones making $16 an hour because they bring no value to the economy. The average working person should be earning a real living wage. Does Lawrence really care about this issue. NO! He just likes to stir the pot. And the Congress saying she clips coupon. BS. How much more money does she need to earn so she won't need to use coupons?

  32. This is why rich will get richer and the less fortunate will always get screwed! its life's lottery! If you are in good health your fine trust me.Next time you feel low just remember so many will not taste the simple delights of life as sleeping on a soft mattress and pillow! I say get living life it's now or never!

  33. Single mother, one child? How about the mom stop sleeping around with Tyrones and actually find a man that will stick around and support his child? We shouldn't create economic policies to subsidize whores.

  34. If he paid his employees more, that would mean a smaller compensation package for him. That ain't gonna happen. This lady is living in the real world. Jamie Dimon is living in the world of the plutocratic kleptocratic corporate rich, and could care less about the people making him rich.

  35. One thing that Ms. Porter didn't say. She never blamed the government for taking away close to $6,000 out of this woman's paycheck, the fault all lays with the bank, not the politicians. IF this employee was not taxed, then the bank would only need to raise her wage about .05 cents per hour to make up the difference. So you see folks this is why even the liberals who scream $15 min. wage is the answer that it is NOT the answer.

  36. Katie Porter nailed it when she asked Jamie if this mythical lady should just take out a Chase credit card and finance her essentials thereby becoming yet another financial statistic. But a good statistic to this JP Morgan Chase leech in terms of interest payments because she would obviously not be able to pay her full balance. We need more Katie Porter's!!

  37. You understand the plight of common everyday people. We need more people like you in Congress. You make all Californians proud! Keep up the good fight!

  38. Maybe she should move to an affordable State as the wages are entry level wages designed for persons not bearing financial responsibilities of raising families. Some state hire persons at seven dollars and twenty five cents per hour.Unless if the bank was responsible for getting this woman pregnant then why is not child support awarded from the father of the child.

  39. I like her, I agree except for the child care question. It’s not a company’s problem for you having a child. It’s called personal responsibility, don’t bring a life to this world that you can’t care for properly! If you don’t make enough money, find a trade or job that pays higher wage before you have a child!

  40. Nobody ever blames the single mom for the poor planning of her future by having a child when she can hardly support herself? Trying to blame a company for paying a fair market value…here’s what that lady can do…she can find another person to pay for that rent.

  41. WOW IT TAKE JD TO BRING THIS "UNDER THE MINIMUM WADGE " COST OF LIVING PROBLEM
TO LIGHT? THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON ALL ACROSS THE US FOR MANY YEARS, FOR MANY WORKERS ?
I HAVEN'T HERD ANY PERSON IN WASHINGTON COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS,

  42. Uhm, how about not having kids before you are married and can afford them? Have you people really not thought this all through?

  43. I ran across this today while searching through videos about the Great Recession. I love politicians like Rep. Porter. This is why we have the House of Representatives. She didn't grandstand, she didn't posture, she didn't patronize. Mr. Dimon was just absolutely flatfooted on this. As the head of one of Earth's flagship financial institutions–a company trading planetwide–he should at least know SOMETHING about what his tellers earn hourly. Not the fine print and every single detail. mind you, but the BASICS.

Yet all he can say to her inquiries are "I don't know; I'd have to think about it."

    WOW.

I am so happy that I am not a JPMorgan Chase customer or employee. Having worked for banks in the past, I can safely say that you CANNOT overdraw your account. That's an HR violation. The teller could lose her job for that. This is why I bank with a smaller community bank here in CLE along with my credit union.

  44. That's why it's widely suggested not to get pregnant very young and have a baby before you have some what stabilized your financial situation. The situation would be better if there was a father to take care of the family, or at least pay child support.

  45. Well it’s not really the responsibility CEO of JP Morgan for the woman in the example to do stupid decisions, and expect to get a good paying job.

  46. Think about it Mr. diamond. I bet Mr. Diamond spends more on cosmetics per month than some can on food for the year. Are we missing something here?

  47. If you work full time for a company, they obviously need your labor. If your labor is needed, you deserve a living wage. It's that simple. You can't just exploit people by artificially devaluing their labor. I swear, this neo gilded age is getting old

  48. Mr. O'Donnell hasn't read the literature that many CEOs of fortune 500 companies tend to be psychopaths and that's why any sort of ethical question messes them up.

  49. Diamonds answer is $3.50 per hour increase so my entry level people don't go in the hole every month while they have full time employment at the freaking Bank of America.
