by a sports related injury. But there are some
great steps you can take to lower your risk
of getting hurt. Here’s some advice
from an expert. First, pay attention
to conditions that can impact your performanc. Don’t put yourself
in a situation where you’ve got a higher
chance of getting hurt. – Diminishing light,
fatigue, change in weather, wearing out your
gear, being in a rush those are factors that
tend to work against you. – [Jane] Next, make sure you’re
wearing the appropriate gear before you get moving. – Dress for your sport. Simplest scenario would be
ride a bicycle, wear a helmet. You assume that you’re
gonna fall a bunch of times so you know anticipate
that and gear up. – [Jane] And finally,
doctor Benson recommends knowing your limitations
if you’re a beginner. And not trying to do
too much too fast. – Not everybody can roller blade the first time out of the gate. So you have to practice
that a little bit because it’s a balance thing. And so it would be really
recognizing those parts of the day or the activity
when you’re more vulnerable. And that would be
anticipating fatigue. Maybe not eating
