A how-to lesson from the Lady Bears

My first how-to video was with Baylor’s
volleyball team and they had me putting in some work, well today I got to work
with the Lady Bears on improving my basketball skills, check it out. First I met with Trinity and she is going to teach me how to “shoot a free-throw yo” let’s go, let’s get it. Free throws are unopposed attempts to
score points from the free-throw line and each successful free throw is worth
1 point. Tips for the perfect free-throw are to “Start with my right foot, you’re shooting foot, even with the goal and then line it up. And then you have like a routine that
you do and mine is just a spin and a dribble and I set and I go up and shoot it.” And most importantly don’t forget to, “bend your knees and then you go do it.” “Buckets!” Next I got to meet win with Moon and she’s gonna teach me how to “shoot a layup.” Layups are 2 point shots made by laying the ball up near the basket and using one hand to bounce it off the backboard and
into the basket. Moon’s tip for a layup is to aim for the in square. Lastly I got to work with with Alexis and she is gonna teach me how to, “dribble between the legs.” Her tip for dribbling between the legs this was “First, when you’re dribbling the ball you always want to make sure your hand on top of the ball and your finger tips are spread across the ball so you can control the ball.” “You always want to have your feet shoulder-width apart. So you want your feet to be even with your shoulders. And then dribble between your legs.” This was the hardest thing for me to learn but Alexis kept pushing me and stayed positive. So if you’re ready to watch the girls in action be sure to come out to the Ferrell Center on October 31st to watch them take on Tarleton State to kick off
their season. For Lariat TV News, Im Elisabeth Tharp.
