03/16/17 Sports Authority Meeting

03/16/17 Sports Authority Meeting

>>CALL THE SPORTS BOARD MEETING TO ORDER. WE APPRECIATE EVERYONE FOR ATTENDING TODAY. WE’RE VERY EXCITED TO BE BACK AT THE BALLPARK. WE KNOW BASEBALL SEASON IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. WE’RE EXCITED. WE’LL GET STARTED. THE PROCESS FOR ANY ACTION OF THIS BOARD CAN BE FOUND AT THE TOP OF TODAY’S AGENDA. FIRST UP WE HAVE OUR APPROVAL REQUEST FOR OUR FEBRUARY 16 MINUTES. IS THERE A MOTION FOR APPROVAL?>>SO MOVE.>>SECOND.>>MOTION AND A SECOND. ANY DISCUSSION? SEEING NONE, ALL IN FAVOR? [CHORUS OF AYES]>>THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED. WE ARE PLEASED THIS MORNING TO HAVE WITH US, MEMBERS, OUR FRIENDS FROM THE NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL. I BELIEVE SCOTT RAMSEY AND BRANDON COX ARE BOTH HERE TO GIVE US AN UPDATE ON THE ACTIVITY THAT’S BEEN GOING ON IN OUR COMMUNITY.>>THANK YOU. ON AN ANNUAL BASIS OR SO MONICA ASKED ME TO COME AND GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON WITH THE SPORTS COUNCIL. GREAT TIMING. WE JUST FINISHED THE SEC MEN’S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. WE PUT A FEW SLIDES TOGETHER BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT SUMMARIZED THE PAST YEAR SINCE WE’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE THIS GROUP AND KIND OF GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF A SUMMARY OF WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON. SO LET’S SEE IF I DON’T SCREW THIS UP HERE TOO MUCH. I THINK SOMETIMES WE OBVIOUSLY JOKE AROUND, AT LEAST KIM AND MONICA AND BEFORE THAT WITH TOBY A LOT ABOUT GETTING CONFUSED BETWEEN THE SPORTS COUNCIL AND THE SPORTS AUTHORITY. I ALWAYS LIKE TO START WITH WE’VE GOT TWO NONPROFITS THAT WE SERVE AS STAFF FOR, TWO SEPARATE NONPROFITS, BUT THEY HAVE A JOINT OPERATING AGREEMENT WHERE WE SHARE STAFF. OBVIOUSLY SERVE VERY SIMILAR MISSIONS OF TRYING TO RECRUIT EVENTS AND MANAGE THEM WHEN THEY’RE HERE. WE HAD AN UNBELIEVABLE 2016. AS YOU SEE HERE, WE HAVE DONE SINCE 2001 CONSISTENT SURVEYING OF PARTICIPANTS AND ATTENDEES AT OUR EVENTS THAT HAS REALLY BEEN KIND OF VERY CONSISTENT OVER THE YEARS AS FAR AS MEASURING ECONOMIC IMPACT. AND WE’VE JUST REALLY REPORTED THOSE SURVEY RESULTS. WE HAVEN’T MANIPULATED THEM OR ADDED QUALIFIERS OR MULTIPLIERS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT TO IT, NOR HAVE WE VALUED THE MEDIA, WHICH& I’LL SHOW YOU IN A MINUTE. 75,000 HOTEL ROOM NIGHTS IN 2016 AND WE HAD OVER 400,000 PEOPLE ATTEND THE EVENTS DURING THE YEAR. MEDIA-WISE, WE HAD 1100 MENS OF 0 MEMBERSOF THE MEDIA COVER THES AND OVER 3600 HOURS OF TELEVISION COVERAGE. THIS IS OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SPORTS COUNCIL. IT WAS FORMED IN 1992. EARLY IN THE ’90s CITIES STARTED FORMING COUNCILS TO GO OUT AND COMPETE FOR SOME OF THE MAJOR SPORTING. NASHVILLE GOT IN THE GAME IN ’92. WE’RE WORKING ON SOME SORT OF A 25TH ANNIVERSARY KIND OF A CAMPAIGN TO TAKE A LOOK BACK AND ALSO MAYBE A LOOK FORWARD. SINCE THEN WE’VE HAD JUST UNDER $800 MILLION IN DIRECT ECONOMIC IMPACT AND OVER 3.6 MILLION SPECTATORS. AGAIN, LAST WEEK ANOTHER UNBELIEVABLE SEC MEN’S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AT BRIDGESTONE ARENA. CONNEKENTUCKY BEAT ARKANSAS. WE HAD OVER 190,000 PEOPLE ATTEND, UP SLIGHTLY FROM 2016. THE LAST TWO DAYS WERE SOLD OUT AT OVER 19,000 PEOPLE IN THE ARENA. ALL 14 SCHOOLS COME TO THE TOURNAMENT, WHICH IS GREAT. IT STARTS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND MOVES THROUGH SUNDAY. WE’RE STILL KIND OF COMPILING ALL OF OUR ECONOMIC IMPACT, BUT WE’VE AVERAGED THE FIRST TIMES WE’VE HOSTED THE EVENT IN NASHVILLE SINCE 2001 A LITTLE OVER $17 MILLION IN DIRECT SPENDING. NEXT YEAR AS PART OF OUR LONG-TERM CONTRACT WITH THE SEC, WE’LL HOST THE WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT. WE HOST THAT EVERY FOURTH YEAR AS PART OF A 12-YEAR AGREEMENT. WE JUST FINISHED YEAR THREE. SO WE HOST THE MEN’S AND THEN THE WOMEN’[email protected] YEAR IN 2018 E WOMEN’S. WE HAVE A WEEK OFF AND THEN WE HAVE A NCA MEN’S FIRST AND SECOND ROUNDS. MARCH MADNESS WILL BE PART OF THAT AS ONE OF THE HOST SITES IN THE FIRST WEEKEND NEXT YEAR TWO WEEKS AFTER WE HOST THE WOMEN. THE CONTRACT RUNS THROUGH 2026. THE BOWL, JUST HARD TO BELIEVE THERE’S ONLY ABOUT 75 DAYS AGO, BUT WE HAD AN INCREDIBLE YEAR FOR THE MUSIC CITY BOWL AS WELL. AND A LITTLE RESET THERE IS WE — WE’RE IN THE THIRD SIX OF A SIX-YEAR CONTRACT CYCLE ON THE BOWL. TENNESSEE BEAT NEBRASKA. ONLY THE SECOND TIME WE HAD TENNESSEE IN OUR 19-YEAR HISTORY. WE’RE MOVING INTO THE 25TH YEAR OF THE BOWL THIS YEAR AS WELL. OVER 68,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED. IT WAS THE FOURTH HIGHEST ATTENDED GAME IN THE COUNTRY BEHIND THE ROSE BOWL AND THE TWO SEMIFINALS, WHICH IS A GREAT MILESTONE FOR US. OUR TELEVISION RATING AGAIN EXCEEDED 5 MILLION VIEWERS, HIGHEST RATED ESPN BOWL GAME OF THE YEAR OUTSIDE OF THE COLLEGE PLAY OFF WHERE THEY HAVE SOME EXCLUSIVE TIME WINDOWS. WE’RE GOING TO EXCEED $20 MILLION IN ECONOMIC IMPACT. AGAIN WE’RE WAITING ON FINAL SPONSOR EVALUATIONS, BUT IT WILL BE PROBABLY THE SECOND OR THIRD HIGHERS THAT WE HAVE SEEN. AGAIN, A LITTLE RESET, BECAUSE WE GET ASKED THIS QUESTION A LOT, OF KIND OF HOW LONG ARE THE BOWL AGREEMENTS. COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL AGREEMENTS WITH THEIR NEW YEAR’S SIX ARE 12 YEARS. WE DID A SIX-YEAR AGREEMENT. WE HAVE THE SEC ALWAYS IN THE GAME ON ONE SIDE. ON THE OTHER SIDE WE SPLIT BETWEEN THE ACC AND THE BIG TEN. THIS YEAR WE WENT WITH THE BIG TEN. THAT AGREEMENT CONTINUES FOR THREE MORE YEARS. WE’LL RENEGOTIATE FOR ANOTHER SIX-YEAR DEAL. OUR ESPN AGREEMENT GOES THROUGH THE 12-YEAR PERIOD. FRANKLIN AMERICAN MORTGAGE, WE JUST FINISHED THE SEVENTH YEAR WITH THEM AND THEY HAVE THREE YEARS REMAINING AS WELL. ONE OF THE METRICS WE USE FOR THE BOWL TO KIND OF COMPARE OURSELVES NATIONALLY IS KIND OF A COMBINATION OF TELEVISION RATINGS AND ATTENDANCE. SO WE DO A METRICS HERE TO KIND OF SEE WHERE WE GAUGE AGAINST EVERYBODY. AS YOU SEE HERE, WE’VE DONE INCREDIBLY WELL SINCE THE SELECTION PROCESS AND OUR NEW CONTRACT CYCLE BEGAN THREE YEARS AGO, WHEREAS WE’RE KIND OF MEASURED OUT TO BE SECOND, AHEAD OF THE CITRUS HOLIDAY OUTBACK IN TAMPA, THE GAME IN CHARLOTTE AND THE OLD GATOR SHOW. SO WE’RE INCREDIBLY HAPPY WITH THAT AND LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO DELIVER GREAT RESULTS FOR THE CITY, BOTH IN ATTENDANCE BUT ALSO THROUGH THE VIEWERSHIP OF OUR NATIONAL TELEVISION AGREEMENT. COMING UP NEXT MONTH, WE HAVE THE ROCK ‘N ROLL NATIONAL MARATHON THAT GOT REBRANDED LAST YEAR. AGAIN, WE’RE ON TRACK TO BE OVER 30,000 REGISTERED RUNNERS, NEARLY 3500 KIDS PARTICIPATE IN THE KIDS’ MARATHON ON SUNDAY AFTER. WE EXPECT TO HAVE THAT SAME KIND OF NUMBER THIS YEAR. THE HEALTH AND FITNESS EXPO WILL TAKE OVER THE MUSIC CITY CENTER ON THE 27TH AND 28TH TO REGISTER EVERYONE. WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS. SO WE’RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THAT. WE USE NEARLY 2,000 FOLKS TO FILL OUR VOLUNTEERS, FROM WATER STATIONS TO BAND STAGE MANAGERS TO PEOPLE HELPING US WITH REGISTRATION ON THE 27TH AND 28TH. SO WE’RE ALWAYS LOOKING THERE. AND WE ALWAYS KIND OF END WITH WHO WE ARE. WE’RE A MEMBERSHIP-BASED ORGANIZATION, LOVE VOLUNTEERS. WE LOVE MEMBERS. AND ANYBODY THAT KIND OF WANTS TO ENGAGE WITH US, WE’VE GOT HOPEFULLY A PLACE TO FIT THEM IN. WE’VE GOT AN EXCITING 2018 COMING UP, AS WELL AS THE REMAINDER OF 2017 WITH, AS I MENTIONED, THE SEC WOMEN’S, NC MEN’S, MARATHON IN APRIL AND U.S. WOMEN’S GOLF AMATEUR TOURNAMENT IN AUGUST, TELEVISED BY FOX, THE FIRST TIME THAT WE’VE BEEN ABLE TO HOST THAT EVENT. SO WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT. SO WITH THAT, ANY QUESTIONS? YES, MA’AM.>>THANKS FOR YOUR WORK. THANK YOU FOR THESE NUMBERS AND WHAT YOU GUYS DO. SO THE NCAA AND THE ACC, THEY WILL AND WILL NOT HOST SPRORTING EVENTS. NORTH CAROLINA LOST BECAUSE THEY MOVED THE WOMEN’S NATIONAL SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE ACC MOVED A BUNCH OF GAMES. IS NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL ON TOP OF THAT. THEY MOVED OUT OF NORTH CAROLINA BECAUSE OF DISCRIMINATORY LEGISLATION. ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT THAT? ON TOP OF THAT? DO YOU NEED HELP?>>WELL, I MEAN, WE’RE CERTAINLY AWARE OF IT, LISA, AND WE’RE FOLLOWING IT CLOSELY. I THINK A LOT OF STATES ARE. I THINK COMMISSIONER WAS ASKED THAT QUESTION WHILE THEY WERE HERE LAST WEEK. CERTAINLY THERE’S A LOT OF STATES DEALING WITH THAT RIGHT NOW. AND I KNOW TEXAS IN PARTICULAR THERE’S AN ARTICLE ABOUT IT THE OTHER DAY, ABOUT SOME WORK-AROUND. CERTAINLY WE’RE AWARE OF IT. WE’RE STAYING IN TOUCH WITH KIND OF EVERYBODY FROM THE LEGISLATIVE SIDE ON THAT. AND THE NCA HOSTS A BID SEMINAR EVERY SUMMER, SO WE’LL HAVE MORE SPECIFICS WHEN WE COME OUT OF THAT IN JUNE AS WELL ABOUT HOW THEY WILL MOVE FORWARD.>>YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB HOSTING THIS EVENT. HOPEFULLY WE DON’T GET CAUGHT IN THAT WHERE NORTH CAROLINA DID. THANK YOU.>>ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?>>I JUST WANT TO SAY A GREAT JOB THE NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL DOES. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE SUMMARY AND YOU LOOK AFTER 25 YEARS THE IMPACT, THE LEADERSHIP AND STAFF IS AMAZING. AND I’VE BEEN ON THE BOARD FOR A WHILE HERE WITH OTHER PEOPLE ON THE SPORTS AUTHORITY, BUT YOU REALLY DO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE. I APPRECIATE YOU COMING TODAY. IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE THAT KIND OF SUMMARY AND THE IMPACT YOU’RE MAKING. SO THANK YOU FOR COMING.>>WELL, THANKS. I GUESS TO CLOSE TO ADD TO THAT A LITTLE BIT IS I THINK ONE OF SET APART FROM IS THE PARTNERSHIPS WE’VE HAD IN THE CITY AND THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN NOT JUST THE SPORTS AUTHORITY, BUT I KNOW THE TITANS AND NISSAN FOLKS WERE HERE TODAY AND NOW FIRST TENNESSEE PARKS. SO I THINK OUR COMMUNITY HAS WORKED TOGETHER WELL AND BETTER THAN MOST IN HOSTING MAJOR EVENTS WHEN YOU START THINKING ABOUT ALL THE LOGISTICS AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES AND VENUE OPERATIONS AND SCHEDULING. WE’RE VERY PROACTIVE IN THAT. SO CERTAINLY WE ENJOY KIND OF BEING ABLE TO PULL THAT TOGETHER. BUT WOULDN’T HAPPEN WITHOUT SOME GREAT PARTNERSHIPS. WE APPRECIATE EVERYBODY IN THIS ROOM THAT’S HELPED US STAGE THOSE EVENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY. SO THANK YOU.>>GREAT. THANK YOU, SCOTT.>>THANKS, KIM.>>APPRECIATE IT. MONICA WILL GIVE US OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT. WE UNDERSTAND IT’S A LENGTHY ONE.>>IT’S A LITTLE LENGTHY. I’LL TRY TO KEEP IT AS BRIEF AS I CAN. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE. I KNOW SCOTT AND BRANDON HAVE TO HEAD OUT, BUT I ALSO DO WANT TO THANK T THEM. THEY DO A FANTASTIC JOB AND THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES AND SOME GREAT SUCCESSES THAT WE’RE SEEING WITH THE BASKETBALL, WITH THE MUSIC CITY BOWL AND SOME OF THAT KIND OF EVENTS. SO WE’RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. YOU HAVE THE AGENDA BEFORE YOU. IT’S A SHORT ONE, ALTHOUGH MY REPORT IS NOT SO SHORT. FOLLOWING MY REPORT THE AUTHORITY WILL CONSIDER THE LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR THE 2017 ROCK ‘N ROLL MARATHON. WE’LL ALSO HAVE A TIME FOR FACILITY QUESTIONS. AND THEN WE’LL FOLLOW THAT UP WITH OUR FIRST TENNESSEE PARK REPORT. FIRST I’D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE AND I DO MEAN EVERYONE TO ATTENDED TUESDAY’S BUDGET MEETING WITH THE MAYOR. IT WAS SHORT AND SWEET, BUT WE WERE WELL-REPRESENTED AND SO I APPRECIATE THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE ABLE TO COME. ONE THING I DO WANT TO MENTION, BEHIND MY REPORT, WHICH IS IN TAB TWO, WE’VE INCLUDED THE SUMMARY SHEET FOR OUR HEARING WITH THE MAYOR. AT THE BOTTOM, UNDER SPECIAL TOPICS, YOU’LL SEE CAPITAL FUND INCREASE. SO SINCE OUR LAST MEETING, WE’VE HAD A COUPLE OF MEETINGS WITH FINANCE DIRECTOR AND RICH, AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT’S COME OUT OF THOSE MEETINGS IS A RECOMMENDATION THAT WE REQUEST FUNDING TO INCREASE METRO’S CAPITAL — METRO’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE CAPITAL STADIUM FUND FROM $1 MILLION TO $2 MILLION. AS WE ALL KNOW, THE TITANS FOR MANY YEARS HAVE FRONTED THE MONEY TO PAY FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS, WITH US REIMBURSING CAPITAL FUND EACH YEAR. SO WE REALLY FEEL LIKE THIS IS GOING TO ALLOW US TO BEGIN TO ADDRESS THIS BACKLOG OF PROJECTS. AND WE KNOW IT’S GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME. AND AS WE’VE SAID FOR THE LAST SIX OR SEVEN MONTHS, ONE OF THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE FACILITIES SAS ASSESSMENT IS TON FERM THE CURRENT CONDITION OF THE BUILDING, TO CONFIRM WHAT EXACTLY DO THEY NEED AND WHAT’S IT GOING TO COST, HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET THERE. THEN WE’VE GOT TO WORK WITH METRO, WITH FINANCE, TO DEVELOP A FUNDING PLAN THAT WILL ENCOMPASS THE PAST AND FUTURE PROJECTS. SO THAT’S WHERE WE ARE. LIKE I SAID, IT’S GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME. THE FACILITIES STUDIES ARE IN FINAL REVIEW AND WE EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO PRESENT THOSE TO THE BOARD NEXT MONTH AT OUR APRIL MEETING. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT?>>SO ARE WE TAKING BOARD ACTION ON THIS REQUEST FOR THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT OR IT WAS ALREADY DONE?>>IT WAS REALLY — WELL, BECAUSE IT REALLY WAS MORE OF A FINANCE RECOMMENDATION. IT WAS NOT A SPORTS AUTHORITY RECOMMENDATION. IT’S A SPORTS AUTHORITY LEASE OPERATION. IT IS NOT PART OF OUR BUDGET THROUGH METRO FINANCE. BUT CLEARLY IT’S SOMETHING WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR A LONG TIME. IT’S REALLY JUST THE FIRST STEP IN BEGINNING TO ADDRESS THIS. SO THIS ONE’S DIFFERENT. ALSO BEHIND THE MAYOR’S SUMMARY YOU’RE GOING TO SEE A MAP OF RIVERFRONT LANDING. AND IN IT YOU’RE GOING TO SEE AN OVAL. AND IT’S NO. 21 ON THE MAP. LOOKS LIKE THIS. OKAY. SO THIS OVAL, THIS AREA, IS OWNED BY THE SPORTS AUTHORITY. IT’S CONTROLLED BY METRO PARKS. IT’S PART OF OUR MOU WITH PARKS. AND IN THE PAST YEAR WE’VE BEEN APPROACHED BY GROUPS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN RENTING THE SPACE FOR VARIOUS ATTRACTIONS, ONE OF WHICH IS AN OBSERVATION WHEEL, SIMILAR TO WHAT WE SEE DOWNTOWN IN ATLANTA OR AT THE NA NAVY PIR IN CHICAGO. IT’S NOT A FERRIS WHEEL, BUT MORE SIMILAR TO THE LONDON EYE, NOT AS BIG. AND SO THERE’S SOME INTEREST. AND THE MAYOR’S OFFICE KNOWS THAT THERE’S INTEREST. WE’VE HAD SOME CONVERSATIONS WITH THEM. WHILE THERE’S SOME CONSENSUS THAT WE NEED SOME FAMILY-FRIENDLY ATTRACTIONS DOWNTOWN, I THINK THE QUESTION IS IS THIS THE RIGHT ONE. IS THIS THE RIGHT SPACE. AND SO WE’RE JUST STARTING TO HAVE THOSE CONVERSATIONS. WE WANTED JUST TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU. I THINK WE WANT TO KIND OF — LET ME SAY THIS. WE WOULD DEFINITELY NEED TO PUT OUT SOME TYPE OF RSP, RFI SHOULD WE DECIDE THAT THIS SPACE NEEDS TO BE DEVELOPED, IF THERE’S AN APPETITE FOR AN OBSERVATION WHEEL. BUT I’D LOVE TO KNOW JUST YOUR INITIAL THOUGHTS AND IMPRESSIONS. JUST GOING TO KIND OF THROW IT OUT THERE AND SEE WHAT TYPE OF FEEDBACK WE RECEIVE. AND IF IT’S SOMETHING THAT WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO LOOK AT, THEN WE’LL DO THAT. BUT I JUST WANTED TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS CONVERSATION, THAT THEY ARE GOING ON. ALSO, I GUESS THIS IS ALSO IMPORTANT –>>I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I THINK THAT’S A GREAT IDEA. I’M DOWN THERE A LOT WITH MY GRANDKIDS AND I’VE TALKED TO A LOT OF VISITORS TO THE CITY, THAT THEY’RE KIND OF DISAPPOINTED AFTER THEY GET IN THE AREA THAT THERE’S NOT MORE FOR THEM TO DO. SO WHATEVER WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE THAT, INCREASE IT, I THINK THAT WOULD BE GREAT.>>WELL, I APPRECIATE THAT FEEDBACK. AND CLEARLY WE WOULD NEED TO HAVE SOME REAL CONVERSATIONS WITH THE TITANS AND THE BRIDGE BUILDING AND THE OTHER STAKEHOLDERS THAT ARE IN THE FOOTPRINT. THE CONVERSATIONS ARE BEGINNING. WE’RE JUST INTERESTED IN YOUR NEINITIAL THOUGHTS.>>MONICA, WHAT HAPPENS IN THERE RIGHT NOW?>>IT’S GREENSPACE. THERE HAVE BEEN SOME YOGA EVENTS THERE. BUT THERE’S NOT A DAILY ACTIVITY. IT’S JUST KIND OF USED AND NEEDED AND MAINTAINED BY PARKS. SO IF THERE’S A GROUP THAT’S INTERESTED IN USING IT, THEY WOULD GO TO METRO PARKS AND WORK OUT AN ARRANGEMENT WITH THEM.>>HOW MANY ACRES?>>IT’S REALLY NOT A LOT OF SPACE. AND I HAVE THE DIMENSIONS. I’LL HAVE TO GET THOSE TO YOU. IT’S NOT A LARGE SPACE, BUT IT’S LARGE ENOUGH TO DO MORE THAN PROBABLY WHAT IT HAPPENS TO BE.>>DO YOU KNOW THE NUMBERS?>>21.>>IF YOU COMBINE 21 WITH 17, THE AREA WHERE THERE’S –>>THE CUMBERLAND PART, MM-HMM. [COMMENT OFF MIC]>>TO TIE THEM TOGETHER. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR FEEDBACK AND WE’LL CONTINUE THE CONVERSATIONS. MOVING ON, METRO PURCHASING, AND THIS ALSO IMPACTS THIS AREA RIGHT HERE. METRO PURCHASING HAS ISSUED A SIX-MONTH EXTENSION FOR OUR PARKING CONTRACT WITH STEWART LOGISTICS. WE ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO ASSIST THE MAYOR’S ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE WITH CORPORATE RELOCATION AND THEY NEED SOME PARKING SPACES, SO WE’RE JUST HAVING SOME CONVERSATIONS WITH THEM. PARKS OF COURSE IS VERY INTERESTED AND VERY INVOLVED IN THE USE OF LOT R, WHICH IS THE REQUEST THAT WE’VE RECEIVED FOR R. WE’RE ALSO LOOKING AT T. BUT UNTIL WE NAIL DOWN THAT PIECE IN TERMS OF A POSSIBLE CORPORATE RELOCATION AND PARKING, IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR US TO FINALIZE THE PARKING RFP. SO WE’VE BEEN IN CONVERSATIONS WITH THRASHER AND STEWART LOGISTICS AND THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THE PROCESS WE’RE WORKING THROUGH RIGHT NOW. AND AS MORE INFORMATION IS PROVIDED AND WE WORK THROUGH IT, THEN WE’LL BRING SOMETHING BACK TO YOU ALL. WE’LL KEEP YOU UPDATED AND AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME WE WILL LET YOU KNOW. SO THE SIX-MONTH EXTENSION WOULD MEAN THAT WE WOULD NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING IN PLACE IN TRMS OF THE RFP BY I THINK OCTOBER.>>WILL YOU TAKE US THROUGH, LOOKING AT THIS PARKING LOT MAP, JUST REMIND EVERYONE WHICH — I KNOW MOST OF THE LOTS ARE CONTROLLED BY THE SPORTS AUTHORITY, BUT ESPECIALLY AS WE’RE MOVING INTO THE NEXT AGENDA ITEM, DO YOU MIND JUST –>>YES. SURE. SO IF YOU — ON THE BACK OF THE PARK PAGE IS THE MAP OF NISSAN STADIUM. CURRENTLY LOT A IS USED BY THE DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP FOR THEIR SHUTTLE PROGRAM. LOT C IS CONTROLLED BY THE TITANS. LOT B IS USED BY UBS, WHICH IS PART THE OF AN ECD DEAL. THE DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP WORKS WITH THEM. LOT D IS STILL USED BY THE STATE. I THINK AS ALL OF YOU KNOW, THE STATE HAS AN OPTION FOR 4,000 SPACES AT NISSAN STADIUM, SO THEY CONTINUE TO USE LOT D SINCE THEY MOVED WHILE THE BALLPARK WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. LOT N IS A LOT THAT WE RENT OUT A LOT FOR CONVENTIONS, FOR STAGING OF SEMIS AND FOR BONE YARDS. LOT P IS WHAT WE CALL THE RV LOT. LOT R IS USED BY THE BRIDGE BUILDING, SO THEY HAVE AN AGREEMENT FOR SPACES. AND THEN OF COURSE METRO PARKS AND CUMBERLAND PARK. LOT T WE OFTEN USE AS OVERFLOW. THE LOTS THAT ARE ON THE PERIMETER OF THE STADIUM ITSELF ARE CONTROLLED BY THE AT THIS T. THAT’S LOTS J, K, H, S, G AND M. LOT E IS USED FOR PARKING FOR JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER. THERE’S A PAY LOT THERE, OR A PAY MACHINE, I SHOULD SAY. AND THEN LOT S IS ALSO USED FOR DOWNTOWN PARKERS.>>SO CLEARLY MONICA HAS A WEALTH OF INFORMATION IN HER MIND. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WE MIGHT GET SOME KIND OF BREAK-OUT?>>YEAH. ABSOLUTELY. ABSOLUTELY. THERE’S A LOT GOING ON THERE. LE BUT WE’RE HAPPY TO BREAK THAT DOWN FOR YOU.>>I THINK VISUALLY THAT WOULD HELP. THANK YOU FOR TAKING –>>ACTUALLY, WE DO HAVE ONE THAT’S COLOR-CODED. JUST A COUPLE MORE THINGS. WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO WAS ABLE TO ATTEND THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE BELLEVUE EYE CENTER. HE WAI WAS OUT OF TOWN AT THE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT, BUT I HEAR IT WAS VERY WELL-ATTENDED AND A GOOD TIME. DURING OUR TIME FOR QUESTIONS I THINK DAVID OR SOMEONE FROM THE — DANNY BUTLER MAYBE WILL COME UP. JUST A MINUTE. AND THEN WE’LL — HE’S READY TO TALK ABOUT IT. AND WE’LL HEAR MORE ABOUT THAT. LASTLY –>>INFORMATION’S IN THE FRONT OF THE PACKET.>>THERE’S AN ARTICLE IN THE FRONT OF THE BINDERS ON THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEW RINK. AND THEN LASTLY, ON MONDAY, MARCH 27, WE WILL PITCH OUR PUBLIC INVESTMENT PLAN TO THE PIP COMMITTEE, AS WE TALKED ABOUT LAST MONTH. OUR PLAN IS TO REQUEST FUNDING TO PURCHASE TWO MANAVA SUITES, WHICH ARE PODS THAT ARE DESIGNED NFOR NURSING FOR BREAST-FEEDING WOMEN FOR USE AT THE STADIUM, THE PARK AND THE CITYWIDE METRO-SPONSORED SPECIAL EVENTS. BRIDGE STONE HAS A WONDERFUL ROOM NOW, WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE NOT PART OF OUR PIP. BUT WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND WE’D LIKE TO THANK THE TITANS, HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND ALL OF OUR PARTNERS AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE ASSISTED IN THIS PROJECT. I’VE GOT TO THANK MY STAFF BECAUSE THEY HAVE WORKED AND WORKED AND WORKED. IT’S BEEN A REALLY BILLSSY MONTH. AND THEY’VE BEEN FANTASTIC. SO I WANT TO THANK THEM AS WELL.>>WHAT TIME IS THAT ON THE 27TH?>>WE HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN A TIME YET, BUT WE’RE EXPECTING THAT SOON. WE’LL LET YOU KNOW AS SOON AS WE RECEIVE IT. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? IF NOT, THAT CONCLUDES MY REPORT.>>NEXT ON OUR AGENDA IS CONSIDERATION OF THE ROCK ‘N ROLL MARATHON LEASE AGREEMENT.>>SO SCOTT ALLUDED TO THE ROCK ‘N ROLL MARATHON, WHICH WILL BE BACK THE WEEKEND OF APRIL 27 THROUGH THE 30TH. THE ROCK ‘N ROLL USES NISSAN STADIUM FOR PARKING AND ON THE DAYS LEADING UP TO THE RACE FOR WATER STATION SETUP AND PARKING FOR A HEALTH AND FITNESS EXPO AND FOR SOME VOLUNTEER PARKING. AND THEN COMPETITOR GROUP, INCORPORATED PAYS THE SPORTS AUTHORITY A RENTAL FEE OF $10,000 TO USE THE LOT. SO WE HAVE A LICENSE AGREEMENT BEFORE YOU. IT IS BASICALLY IDENTICAL TO THE ONE THAT WAS APPROVED LAST YEAR. AND THAT’S REALLY ABOUT IT UNLESS THERE ARE QUESTIONS. [COMMENT OFF MIC]>>NO BIG CHANGES.>>I MOVE FOR APPROVAL.>>SECOND.>>WE HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND TO APPROVE THE LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR 2017. ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION? ALL IN FAVOR? [CHORUS OF AYES]>>ANY OPPOSED? THE AGREEMENT IS APPROVED.>>THANK YOU.>>THANK YOU.>>AT THE TIME WE HAVE OUR FA SELTFACILITY QUESTIONS LISTED OR AGENDA AND IT’S PROBABLY APPROPRIATE AT THIS TIME TO RECOGNIZE DANNY TO GIVE US AN UPDATE. THERE HAS BEEN SOME EXCITING NEWS SINCE OUR LAST MEETING REGARDING A FACILITY COMING TO DOWN.>>ABSOLUTELY. DANNY BUTLER, GENERAL MANAGER TWO WEEKS AGO THE MAYOR ANNOUNCED THAT SHE PLANS ON BUILDING A NEW ICE RINK AND REC CENTER OUT IN BELLEVUE. REALLY EXCITING. IT WILL COPY FORD ICE CENTER AND THE CENTER NEXT-DOOR, MAKE THEM ONE BIG BUILDING. THERE’S REALLY A DEMAND FOR ICE. WE TALKED ABOUT THAT IN THE LAST MEETING. WE’RE OPEN FROM 5:00 IN THE MORNING TO 1:00 IN THE MORNING. WE HAVE FIGURE SKATERS AND HOCKEY TEAMS COMING IN AT 5:00 IN THE MORNING TO SKATE. THERE IS A BIG DEMAND FOR ICE AND WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY. BESIDES BEING ABLE TO NOT RUN UNTIL 1:00 IN THE MORNING, WE’LL STILL RENT UNTIL ABOUT 11:00 AT NIGHT, BUT WE’LL BE ABLE TO BRING IN TOURNAMENTS THAT BRING IN 25 TEAMS, TO BRING IN 50 TEAMS. WE’VE ALREADY LOCKED IN TWO TOURNAMENTS FOR BELLEVUE. THEY’LL PROBABLY BRING IN ABOUT 60 TEAMS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AS WELL AS CANADA AND SOME EUROPEAN TEAMS. SO WE’RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. IT’S JUST A GREAT OPPORTUNITY AND WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP WITH METRO. IS THERE ANY QUESTIONS ON IT? WE’RE IN THE VERY EARLY STAGES. I BELIEVE IT GOES THROUGH METRO COUNCIL VOTE NEXT WEEK.>>I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT — I THINK IT’S STRUCTURED DIFFERENTLY THAN FORD ICE CENTER. IS THAT RIGHT?>>WELL, IT IS STRUCTURED AS FAR AS THE SPORTS AUTHORITY’ INVOLVEMENT, SO I THINK THEY’RE SSTILL FINALIZING THE DEAL, BUT THIS WILL BE A PARK FACILITY. IT WILL BE OWNED BY METRO PARKS, FINANCED WITH SOME GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS. SO THE SPORTS AUTHORITY WILL NOT BE INVOLVED IN THE FINANCING. WE STILL EXPECT TO PLAY A ROLE, AND WE ARE KIND OF FIGURING OUT WHAT THAT’S GOING TO LOOK LIKE NOW. BUT WE ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE TTHE FINANCE IR ER.>>THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE. WITHOUT THAT WE WOULD NOT BE BUILDING IN BELLEVUE. WE APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU GUYS HAVE DONE.>>THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK. WE HOPE YOU GET SOME SLEEP NOW.>>IT WILL BE NICE. THANK YOU.>>THANK YOU.>>IS THERE ANY OTHER FACILITY QUESTIONS? I KNOW STAFF SUBMITTED ALL THE FACILITY REPORTS AND I KNOW THE BOARD HAS HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW. IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS, THEN WE WILL GET TO OUR SPOTLIGHT FACILITY, WHICH IS THE FIRST TENNESSEE BALLPARK, AND I BELIEVE LOOKS LIKE ADAM IS GOING TO KICK OFF THAT CONVERSATION.>>GOOD MORNING. ADAM NEWS, GENERAL MANAGER FOR THE NATIONAL SOUNDS. FIRST TIME I’VE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO START THIS OFF. USUALLY DOUG REPRESENTS US SO WELL AS YOU GUYS ALL KNOW AND CERTAINLY A BLESSING TO HAVE HIM ROLLING AND DOES A GREAT JOB FOR US. ALSO HARD TO FOLLOW LAST WEEK — OR LAST MONTH WHEN THE TITANS GENERAL MANAGER CAME UP AND HAD A LOT OF INSIGHTFUL THINGS. ALTHOUGH OUR TITLES ARE THE SAME, OUR JOBS ARE VASTLY DIFFERENT. WE WORK CLOSELY WITH THE OAKLAND As ON BRINGING PLAYERS INTO THE BALLPARK. SO MY JOB, WHICH HAS BECOME OUR MISSION STATEMENT, AND WE HAVE IT UP HERE, IS TO CONSTANTLY IMPROVE EVERY ASPECT OF THAT FAN EXPERIENCE. AND THAT’S REALLY WHAT WE DO HERE WITH THE SOUNDS. WE DON’T CONTROL WINS AND LOSSES VERY WELL, BUT WE CAN CONTROL THAT FAN EXPERINCE. SO A LOT OF OUR PRESENTATION TODAY IS KIND OF CENTERED AROUND HOW WE’RE TRYING TO EXPAND AND ENHANCE THAT FAN EXPERIENCE EVERY WAY WE CAN. SO OUR STAFF AS A WHOLE, WE KIND OF RALLIED BEHIND ONE WORD GOING INTO THE 2017 SEASON. THAT WORD FOR US IS “FRESH “AND WAS GOING TO BREAK DOWN WHAT THAT MEANS TO US. IT MEANS A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS, BUT FOR THIS WE’RE GOING TO TAKE IT STEP BY STEP. THE F IS FUN, WHICH IS HAVE FUN AND CREATE FUN. AND THAT’S ONE OF OUR BIG CORE VALUES, IS TO TRY TO CREATE THAT FUN, MAKE IT A FUN ATMOSPHERE TO WORK IN. THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY, SO A LOT OF WHAT WE DO THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE CENTERED AROUND PLAYERS THAT HAVE COME THROUGH TO CELEBRATE THE HISTORY THAT IS NASHVILLE SOUNDS. THAT IS UNIQUE AND AMAZING THAT IT’S BEEN 40 YEARS THAT THE SOUNDS HAVE BEEN IN THE BALLPARK — OR IN TOWN. NOT THE BALLPARK. OPENING DAY, APRIL 11. IT’S GOING TO BE A REMATCH AGAINST THE DODGERS. THEY KNOCKED US OUT OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS IN GAME FIVE, BUT EXCITED FOR A REMATCH. WE’RE GOING TO SET UP DUELING PIANOS AND FIREWORKS AFTER THE GAME. GOING WITH THE FUN AND CREATING FUN. IT WILL BE A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. CERTAINLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. STAY TUNED, BUT WE’RE ABOUT TO ANNOUNCE IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS THAT FOR ONE DAY ONLY WE’RE GOING TO CHANGE OUR TEAM NAME. SO WE’LL ANNOUNCE WHAT THAT TEAM NAME IS. BUT IT WILL BE ONE GAME ONLY, HAVING SOME FUN WITH IT. OUR STAFF HAS REALLY RALLIED BEHIND IT ALL OFF SEASON AND WE HAVE NEW JERSEYS, NEW HATS, ALL THAT COMING OUT FOR ONE GAME ONLY, BUT WE’LL HAVE A LOT OF FUN BEHIND THAT. JUNE 30 WE HAVE HIRED AND PAID TO GET ALL THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS FOLKS TO BREAK A LARGEST ENSEMBLE OF AIR GUITAR, WHICH IS A UNIQUE RECORD TO TRY TO BREAK, BUT WITH FIRST TENNESSEE BANK, IT WAS THEIR IDEA, THEY CAME UP WITH IT AND WE RALLIED BEHIND IT AND CERTAINLY EXCITED, GETTING GOING WITH THE FUN. AUGUST 21, QUINTIN AND DOUG WILL TALK MORE ABOUT GETTING BEHIND THE ECLIPSE PARTY. WE MOVED OUR GAME TIME UP THREE HOURS TO TRY TO MAKE A BIG EVENT UP HERE AT THE BALLPARK AND EMBRACE THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMING IN FOR SOLAR ECLIPSE. APPRECIATE THE HARD WORK ON THAT. WE’RE ALSO HAVING 14 FIREWORKS SHOWS THIS YEAR, ALWAYS VERY POPULAR. SO EXCITED ABOUT THAT. WE HAVE A QUICK VIDEO TO SHOW OUR STAFF HAVING FUN WITH OPENING DAY AROUND THE CORNER.>>HOTDOGS! HOTDOGS!>>IS THAT HOT CHICKEN?>>NO. HOTDOGS. GET YOUR HOTDOGS HERE. HOTDOGS!>>HOT CHICKEN?>>NO. THEY’RE HOTDOGS. HOTDOGS! HOTDOGS?>>IS THAT CHICKEN?>>NO. HOTDOGS.>>WHATEVER.>>WHAT’S UP WITH THESE PEOPLE, MAN? CAN’T THEY SEE THEY’RE HOTDOGS? HOTDOGS. DELICIOUS. HOTDOGS! HOTDOGS!>>WHAT’S NOT SURPRISING, SINGLE TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE. GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY.>>HOTDOGS! GET YOUR HOTDOGS. HOTDOGS SLAM>>OBVIOUSLY A PLAY ON THE ICED TEA/LEMONADE. SOMETHING WE’VE HAD FUN WITH. THE NEXT LETTER R REPRESENTS THE ORGANIZATION POSITIVELY INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION. REALLY EXCITED ABOUT AN ABSOLUTE ALL-STAR ON OUR STAFF AND IN THIS COMMUNITY, IN THIS INDUSTRY, WILL COME UP AND TALK ABOUT WHAT WE’RE DOING IN THE COMMUNITY. SHE’S TAKEN THAT DEPARTMENT TO ANOTHER LEVEL. THAT’S A BIG PART OF WHAT WE’RE GOING TO TRY TO DO AS AN ORGANIZATION, IS REPRESENT EVERYTHING NASHVILLE SOUNDS IN THE COMMUNITY AND MAKE AN IMPACT. THE NEXT ONE, E, IS TO EXECUTE UNEXPECTED CUSTOMER SERVICE. AS WE ASK YOU WHEN YOU COME TO THE BALLPARK TO LET US KNOW HOW THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS. WE’VE HIRED SOME THIRD PARTIES TO COME IN AND CHALLENGE US IN EVERY DEPARTMENT THAT WE CAN THINK OF AND EVERY DEPARTMENT THAT WE CANNOT THINK OF, ALL AT THE SAME TO TRY TO MAKE SURE WE’RE PROVIDING THAT UNEXPECTED COMPANY SERVICE. S IS STRONG, WHICH IS BE BOLD, STRONG, DARING, CREATIVE AND PURPOSEFUL. AND WITH THAT, WE’VE GONE OUT RIGHT NEXT TO THE BAND BOX, WE’VE CREATED AN OUTDOOR SUITE THAT’S GOING TO BE RIGHT BY THE BAND BOX, TO TRY TO CREATE A SUITE EXPERIENCE OUT THERE. SO YOU’LL START SEEING SOME EM IMPROVEMENTS OUT THERE. WE HIRED BARRY ZITO, A FORMER CY YOUNG AWARD WINNER. HE’S GONE ON INTO A MUSIC CAREER. SO WE PARTNERED WITH HIM TO TRY TO CREATE A THEME SONG. SO EVERYTHING THAT WE DO, OUR RALLY SONG, MARKETING PIECES, EVERYTHING WILL BE KIND OF CENTERED AROUND THAT. LIVES HERE IN NASHVILLE, SONGWRITER. WE’LL PLAY THAT SONG HERE AT THE END FOR YOU. WE’RE BRINGING BACK CELEBRITY CHEF THIS YEAR. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE 22 NIGHTS WHERE WE’RE GOING TO HAVE FIVE-STAR CHEFS COME IN AND TAKE OVER THE CONCESSION STAND. EACH DAY THEY’RE GOING TO BRING UNIQUE ITEMS TO COME OUT, TRY TO GET SOME FOOD BLOGGERS TALKING ABOUT US. PUTT-PUTT COURSE WILL BE BACK. REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. SPECIAL EVENTS, DOUG’S GOING TO TALK A LOT ON THAT. THERE’S A HUGE OPPORTUNITY HERE TO HAVE SPECIAL EVENTS, FROM CONCERTS TO ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF. WE WANT TO HAVE HERE AND MAKE IT KNOWN AS A SPECIAL EVENT CENTER. SO QUICK VIDEO HERE ON ANOTHER JERSEY THAT WE’VE CREATED FOR EVERY FRIDAY. WE’VE TRIED TO EMBRACE KIND OF THE CITY OF NASHVILLE A LITTLE BIT MORE, THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, SO WE CREATED SOME NEW UNIFORMS THAT WE’RE GOING TO HAVE FOR EVERY FRIDAY GAME THIS YEAR AND CERTAINLY EXCITED ABOUT IT. QUICK VIDEO. ♪ >>SO EXCITED ABOUT THAT NEW LOOK AND KIND OF INTRODUCE SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR. THEN THE LAST ONE WITH THE H IS SPEAK HONESTLY, THINK WITH SINCERITY AND ACT WITH INTEGRITY. THAT’S WHAT WE WANT YOU GUYS TO HOLD US ACCOUNTABLE FOR. WE WANT THE COMMUNITY TO KNOW THAT THAT’S KIND OF OUR MISSION AND WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE’RE DOING. AND WITH THAT, AGAIN, THE ALL-STAR THAT I MENTIONED EARLIER, I THINK YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LOVE HER, BUT EXCITED ABOUT HER PRESENTATION AND I’LL HAND IT OVER TO HER. DESTINY.>>GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE.>>GOOD MORNING.>>I AM THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS MANAGER HERE WITH THE NASHVILLE SOUNDS, AND I’VE BEEN REALLY HONORED TO KIND OF TACKLE OVER THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AND REALLY TRY TO REFRESH IT AND MAKE IT WHERE WE ARE REALLY TRYING TO BE IMPACTFUL AND REALLY SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY THAT’S SUPPORTED US FOR THESE PAST 40 YEARS. I’M GOING TO GO THROUGH SOME OF THE THINGS WE’VE DONE, GIVE AN IDEA WHERE WE’RE HEADED AND THINGS WE HAVE COMING UP THIS SEASON. THE OASIS CENTER, IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH NASHVILLE OR ANY OTHER COMMUNITY CENTERS HERE, THE OASIS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE. THEY REALLY, REALLY TRY TO WORK WITH AVERAGE TEAMS. WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I GREW UP BORN AND RAISED IN NASHVILLE. THEY DID A LOT OF COLLEGE PREP AND COLLEGE ADMISSIONS HELP AND THEY HELPED US FILL OUT THE FAFSA, ANYTHING YOU COULD THINK OF. THIS IS TO TURN IT INTO SOMETHING THAT IS ALL-EM COMPASSING. THEY HAVE A SITE WHERE THEY CAN HOUSE TEENS WHO ARE DES PLACED OR HOMELESS AND THEY ALSOLE HAVE A STORE WHERE THEY CAN GET FREE CLOTHING. PEOPLE DONATE GENTLY-USED CLOTHING. WE WERE ABLE TO GO THIS PAST JANUARY AND HELP TO SORT THROUGH THAT AND JUST GET IT IN TIP TOP SHAPE, SIZE EVERYTHING SO WHEN THOSE KIDS COME IN THERE AND THEY’RE IN NEED OF A JACKET OR A COAT, BECAUSE JANUARY’S REALLY COLD, THAT THEY COULD FIND THAT STUFF. SO IT WAS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY FUN TO DO. IN FEBRUARY WE WORKED WITH THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION OF GREATER NASHVILLE. FEBRUARY 3 WAS WEAR RED FOR WOMEN DAY. HEART DISEASE IS ONE OF THE NUMBER ONE KILLERS OF WOMEN. AND SO ON FEBRUARY 3 THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION MET AT THE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AT NOON JUST TO KICK OFF AND THEY HAD KEYNOTE SPEAKERS, A HIGH SCHOOL BAND, EMPHASIZED THE IMPORTANT OF EARLY DETECTION AND REALLY LETTING WOMEN KNOW THAT THEY ARE THERE TO SUPPORT THEM. OUR ENTIRE STAFF WORE RED THAT FRIDAY AND WE WALKED WITH THEM TO THE BRIDGE. WE HAD BOOSTER, THE HOT CHICKEN BE THAT YOU SAW EARLIER, AS WELL AS ONE OF OUR COUNTRY LEGENDS, REBA MCINTYRE. THEY WERE ABLE TO COME AND SHOW SUPPORT FOR THEM. ON FEBRUARY 17 WAS RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY. WE WERE TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO GET INVOLVED AND DO SOMETHING IN THE COMMUNITY. AND WE HAD A STAFF MEMBER WHO HAD WORKED WITH SAFE HAVEN BEFORE. IF YOU’RE FAMILIAR WITH ANY OF THE SHELTERS IN THE AREA, IT’S REALLY HARD FOR A SHELTER TO TAKE ON AN ENTIRE FAMILY. SAFE HAVEN IS ONE OF THE ONLY SHELTERS THAT TAKES ON THE ENTIRE FAMILY NO MATTER HOW MANY THEY HAVE. WE DECIDED TO DEDICATE OUR TIME THAT DAY WITH THOSE INDIVIDUALS YOU SEE IN THAT PHOTO JUST TO HELP THEM OUT WITH WHATEVER THEY NEEDED. AND THAT PARTICULAR DAY WE HELPED CLEAN UP THEIR PLAYROOM AND THEN WE ALSO HELPED ORGANIZE THEIR PANTRY. AND SO WHAT THEY DO THERE IS AMAZING. THEY SEND EVERY FAMILY WITH A MATTRESS AND BEDDING FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER WHEN THEY LEAVE AND THEY GET INTO THEIR NEW HOME SO THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO PUT IN THAT HOME. THEY HAVE EVERY HOUSEHOLD PRODUCT YOU CAN THINK OF THAT YOU WOULD NEED, DIAPERS, FORMULA, CLEANING PRODUCTS. SO WE HELPED TAKE INVENTORY OF THAT SPACE AND JUST LOVE ON THEM AND SHOW OUR SUPPORT. WE’LL GO BACK WITH THEM IN SEPTEMBER, I BELIEVE, AND DO A HOSPITALITY EVENT WHERE WE’LL GET TO DINE AND COOK AND PREPARE A MEAL FOR THE RESIDENTS OF SAFE HAVEN. SO THAT WAS A REALLY FUN PROJECT I THINK WE ALL ENJOYED. READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK IS IN HONOR OF DR. SEUSS’ BIRTHDAY. THERE WAS A KICKOFF THE FRIDAY PRIOR WITH MAYOR BARRY. MISS TENNESSEE WAS THERE AS WELL AS A LOT OF LOCAL NEWS REPORTERS AND PEOPLE YOU SEE ON TV LOCALLY. SO WE READ TO KIDS THAT DAY AND WITH HAD A BLEE. ASSEMBLY. IT WAS A COOL EVENT TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO READ AND HOW IMPORTANT EDUCATION IS. THAT SAME WEEK WE WENT — FRONT OFFICE STAFF WENT TO A SCHOOL WE’VE PARTNERED WITH ABOUT A MILE FROM THE BALLPARK AND WE READ. THEIR GOAL WAS TO HAVE ONE READER IN EVERY CLASSROOM EVERY DAY FOR THAT WEEK. FIVE OF US WERE ABLE TO GO AND READ FOR 30 MINUTES. THI HAD A LITTLE KID. HIS TEACHER DIDN’T MAKE HIM DO THIS. HE CAME UP TO ME AND SAID THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING TO ME. SOMETHING YOU DON’T THINK ABOUT. HE WAS JUST VERY APPRECIATIVE AND THE SCHOOLS WERE, TOO. SO WE WERE VERY, VERY HAPPY TO HELP. AND WE IN THE PAST HAVE ALWAYS DONE COMMUNITY INITIATIVES WITH PLAYERS. WE’VE ALWAYS KIND OF SUPPORTED EDUCATION, BUT UNDER ADAM’S LEADERSHIP WE’VE REALLY TRIED TO PUSH OUR FRONT OFFICE STAFF TO BE INVOLVED, PARTICULARLY IN OUR OFF SEASON WHEN WE’RE NOT AS BUSY DURING THE SEASON. THIS PAST FRIDAY WE BRAVED THROUGH THE SEC TOURNAMENT TRAFFIC TO GO TO THE DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND WE DID A PROJECT WITH THEM. DURING THE SUMMER THEY HAVE A LOT OF EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES WITH KIDS, BUT RIGHT NOW THEY’RE DOING A BOOK SALE AND THEY GIVE ALL OF THEIR BOOKS TO A THIRD-PARTY DISTRIBUTOR AND THEY GET A PROCEED FROM THE BOOKS THEY SELL TO HELP FUEL THOSE PROGRAMS IN THE SUMMER. SO WE WERE DOWN IN THE BOOK GRAVEYARDS SORTING THOSE BOOKS AND THROWING THOSE OUT. IT DIDN’T SEEM LIKE A BIG DEAL TO US. THE NEXT DAY WE GOT A SWEET EMAIL FROM OUR CONTACT THERE WHO WAS SUPER APPRECIATIVE TO HAVE US THERE. SO WE WERE EXCITED TO DO THAT. TO DATE SINCE LAST MAY WE HAVE COMMITTED AS A FRONT OFFICE, NOT INCLUDING OUR PLAYERS, OVER 1200 HOURS OF SERVICE. AND THIS YEAR FROM JANUARY 1 TO DECEMBER WE’VE KIND OF TRIED TO PUSH THE MOLD AND IF WE CAN DO THAT FROM JUNE TO DECEMBER, THEN SURELY WE CAN REACH 2,000 HOURS. SO THAT’S OUR GOAL FOR THIS YEAR. AND WE HAVE BEEN JUST REALLY PUSHING OUR FRONT OFFICE STAFF TO GET INVOLVED WHEN THEY CAN. EVERYBODY’S SCHEDULES ARE KIND OF CRAZY AND HECTIC, PARTICULARLY WITH THE SEASON RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. SO IT’S BEEN REALLY FUN TO TRY TO FIND WAYS FOR US TO PLUG IN THE COMMUNITY AND REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE PHOTOS FROM WHAT WE’VE DONE THIS YEAR THUS FAR. WE HAVE 151 HOURS TO DATE. RIGHT NOW WE’RE IN THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR OUR NASHVILLE SOUNDS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS, SO WE’VE MET WITH COMMITTEE MEMBERS THIS WEEK AND THEY’VE GOT EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO REALLY CRITIQUE THOSE ESSAYS, NARROW IT DOWN TO TEN FINALISTS. WE WILL AWARD $10,000 TO FOUR DESERVING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS. THIS WILL BE OUR SECOND YEAR DOING THAT. WE’LL ANNOUNCE THOSE WINNERS AT OUR SECOND HOME GAME OF THE SEASON IN APRIL. WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT. THROUGHOUT THE SEASON WE HAVE IN-GAME OPPORTUNITIES FOR US TO JUST REALLY SHED A LIGHT ON SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO ARE DOING WORK TO REALLY, REALLY MAKE NASHVILLE A BETTER PLACE. AND SO OUR HOMETOWN HERO PROGRAM IS A PROGRAM WHERE PEOPLE ARE ENCOURAGED TO NOMINATE ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY MEMBERS THAT THEY KNOW TO COME OUT TO A GAME. WE GIVE THEM TICKETS, WE PROVIDE THEM WITH FOOD VOUCHERS AND WE HONOR THEM IN-GAME. IT’S BEEN A FUN PROGRAM TO WORK WITH. ALL OF THE SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN ARE SO DIFFERENT. A LOT OF THEM AREN’T FROM HERE. SOME ARE FROM HERE. SO THAT’S BEEN A REALLY FUN PROGRAM. SO I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE HERE IF YOU KNOW AN ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBER, PLEASE NOMINATE THEM. WE’D BE HAPPY TO HAVE THEM. AND LASTLY, OUR CHAIR OF THE OTHER GAME PROGRAM IS SOMETHING WE’VE DONE SINCE WE WERE AT GREER STADIUM. WE REALLY WANT TO HELP LOCAL AND SMALLER NONPROFITTING SPREAD AWARENESS ABOUT THEIR CAUSE AND WHAT THEY’RE DOING. AND SO WE STARTED GETTING PEOPLE TO SIGN UP TO BE ONE OF OUR CHAIR THE OTHER GAME. SO THEY GET A TABLE IN THE CONCOURSE, TWO PA READS IN-GAME AND IT GIVES THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO SPEAK FACE-TO-FACE WITH OUR FANS AND ENCOURGE THEM TO GET INVOLVED IN WHATEVER THEY HAVE GOING ON AT THE TIME. THE A LOT OF TIMES THEY’RE PROMOTING THEIR WALKS OR SOME TYPE OF CAMPAIGN. AND SO THAT’S BEEN REALLY, REALLY FUN TO WORK WITH AND TO GET TO KNOW ALL THE DIFFERENT PEOPLE THAT ENCOMPASS NASHVILLE. SO I THINK THAT’S ALL FOR ME. DO YOU ALL HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?>>VERY IMPRESSIVE.>>I HAVE A COUPLE. YOU MENTIONED STEPHANIE?>>YES, MA’AM.>>YOU MENTIONED THAT THE FRONT OFFICE HAS OVER 1200 HOURS?>>MM-HMM.>>HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES THAT ENCOMPASS? HOW MANY ARE INCLUDED?>>SO IN THE OFF SEASON WE HAVE ABOUT 30, 35 FRONT OFFICE EMPLOYEES. AND THEN DURING THE SEASON WHEN WE BRING ON OUR SEASONAL PEOPLE WE’LL HAVE ABOUT 40, 45 STAFF.>>THAT’S GREAT. AND ALSO ON THE SCHOLARSHIP, I THINK THAT’S THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY HEARD ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIPS, SO THIS IS THE SECOND TIME?>>YES. THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR. FOUR $2500 SCHOLARSHIPS, SO $10,000 IN ALL.>>CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THOSE SCHOLARSHIPS?>>YES. SO THEY HAVE TO SEND IN AN ESSAY ON A PARTICULAR PROMPT THAT WE SELECT. THIS YEAR’S ESSAY WAS ABOUT LEADERSHIP AND HOW THEY DEFINE LEADERSHIP AND HOW THEY SHOW THOSE CHARACTERISTICS. SO THEY HAVE TO SUBMIT AN ESSAY, TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FROM A TEACHER OR A FAMILY FRIEND. AND THEN THEY’LL ALSO HAVE TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. AND THEY’LL SEND THAT IN. AND SO LAST YEAR IT WAS KIND OF LIKE TRIAL AND ERROR. THE ESSAY TOPIC LAST YEAR WAS ABOUT SOME — WHAT LEVEL OF ADVERSITY HAVE YOU FACED AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THAT. SO THIS YEAR WAS A LITTLE BIT MORE FOCUSED IN ON ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HOLD TRUE TO IS LEADERSHIP AND HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS FOR KIDS TO LEARN HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE LEADER. AND SO THE ESSAYS ARE WONDERFUL TO READ. IF YOU EVER WANT TO READ AN ESSAY, COME AND SEE ME. I’LL BE HAPPY TO SEND SOME YOUR WAY. SO THOSE WERE THE CRITERIA.>>THAT’S GREAT. THANKS.>>SO LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION. HOW DO YOU GET THAT WORD OUT TO THE KIDS TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION?>>SO WE GO THROUGH — CREATED A DATABASE, DAVIDSON COUNTY, SOUR SURROUNDING COUNTIES. WE SEND OUT AN EMAIL LIST. IT’S BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE LATE OCTOBER. AND THEN WE’VE HAD A HUGE SOCIAL MEDIA PUSH. SO ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK. THEN WE DID A PRESS RELEASE ABOUT THIS, TOO. AND SO IT WAS REALLY, REALLY ON THE BACK END THIS YEAR. I WAS NERVOUS, WE DON’T HAVE THAT MANY APPLICANTS. LAST WEEK I WAS BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. WE HAD 130 THIS YEAR COMPARED TO 80 LAST YEAR. SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN CONTINUE TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THAT.>>WITH REGARD TO YOUR CHAIR AT THE GAME, ARE YOU FULL FOR THIS YEAR?>>WE ARE NOT FULL. WE’RE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS.>>SO ANY CHARITY THAT’S INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING THIS YEAR COULD CONTACT YOU?>>RIGHT. RIGHT.>>AND POTENTIALLY ARRANGE A DATE FOR THEM?>>YES. EVERY THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY GAME.>>WHAT’S THE CRITERIA?>>THEY HAVE TO BE A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION AND THAT’S PRETTY MUCH IT. THERE IS A ONE A $100 FEE SORND WITH IT.>>AGAIN, WHAT DO THEY GET FOR THAT?>>IF THEY G GET CHOSEN, THEY’RE THE SPOTLIGHT CHARITY. RIGHT NEAR HOME PLATE BETWEEN OUR PRO SHOP AND MAIN ENTRANCE THEY’LL GET A TABLE, WHERE WE DO OUR SILENT AUCTIONS FOR THE FOUNDATION. SO THEY’RE RIGHT THERE WHEN FANS GET IN THE BALLPARK AND THEY’RE ABLE TO HAND OUT PROMOTIONAL MERCHANDISE. THEY CAN HAND OUT WRIST BANDS OR PINS AND REALLY GET TO TALK TO THE PEOPLE. SOME PEOPLE GET REALLY CREATIVE WITH IT. WE’VE SEEN PEOPLE PLAY GAMES AND HAVE SOME TYPE OF RAFFLE WHERE THEY CAN WIN A PRIZE. SOMETIMES THEY MIGHT BRING PEOPLE WHO ARE AFFECTED BY WHATEVER — YOU KNOW, AFFECTED BY WHATEVER THAT GROUP SUPPORTS. SO WE HAD THE A NATIONAL FOUNDATION HERE AND THEY BROUGHT KIDS OUT WHO WERE AFFECTED. SO IT’S KIND OF WHATEVER THEY TAKE ON. IF THEY HAVE A MASCOT, WE’VE HAD MASCOTS COME OUT ON THEIR BEHALF AND I INTERACT WITH BOOSTER. AND THEN THEY’LL GET THOSE TWO PA READS IN GAME SO PEOPLE CAN KNOW WHAT THEY’RE ABOUT IF THEY’VE NEVER HEARD THEM. SOMETIMES THIS POINT OF CONTACT IS KEY FOR THOSE SMALLER ORGANIZATIONS THAT DON’T REALLY HAVE A PLATFORM TO GO OUT BESIDES SOCIAL MEDIA OR FACEBOOK. SO WE’RE HAPPY TO PROVIDE THAT.>>AND WHAT TYPE OF LEAD TIME WOULD THEY NEED TO HAVE THEIR APPLICATION IN TO DO SOMETHING?>>SO IT DEPENDS ON — JUST BY PRIORITY. SO WE MAY STILL HAVE A FEW OPENINGS DURING THE SEASON AND PEOPLE CAN STILL ACTIVELY APPLY. AND ALL THE INFORMATION IS ON OUR WEBSITE UNDER OUR COMMUNITY TAB. THEY’LL BE ABLE TO REACH OUT TO ME OR ALI, WHO IS WORKING WITH ME THIS YEAR, AND WE’LL HELP COORDINATE WITH THEM SO THEY KNOW WHEN TO GET HERE AND ALL THE DETAILS. [COMMENT OFF MIC]>>T IT IS. IT IS. THE HOMETOWN HERO NOMINATION FORM IS ALSO ON OUR WEBSITE AND THEY’LL SUBMIT THAT ONLINE.>>THANK YOU.>>ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR DESTINY? WE APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.>>THANK YOU.>>GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY. DOUG SCOFILL WITH THE NATIONAL SOUNDS. SO I’M GOING TO GO THROUGH A COUPLE DIFFERENT THINGS, KIND OF A PREVIEW OF THE SOUNDS’ TEAM THIS YEAR. WE’VE TALKED ABOUT IT A LITTLE BIT IN PREVIOUS MEETINGS. THEY’RE DOWN AT SP SPRING TRAING DOWN IN ARIZONA RIGHT NOW. THEY GET TO NASHVILLE APRIL 2, IN A COUPLE WEEKS. BEING AN OAKLAND As’ AFAIL AFFILIATE, THEY’RE A SMALL MARKET TEAM. ONE OF THE TALENTS WE HAVE IS OUR MANAGER, RYAN CHRISTIANSON. HE’S SEEN AS A RISING STAR AS A MANAGER IN BASEBALL. HIS TEAM WITH THE As HAVE WON THEIR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS THE PAST TWO YEARS. HE WAS THE MANAGER OF AN ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE. THEY HAVE A COLLECTION OF TOP PROSPECTS FROM THROUGHOUT BASEBALL. THERE’S SEVEN OR EIGHT TEAMS IN THAT. NOT MANY MANAGERS GET A CHANCE TO MANAGE THERE. BEING SELECTED IS GREAT AND HIS TEAM ALSO HAPPENED TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THE PEDIGREE HE’S BRINGING TO US AND OUR PLAYERS. MANY WE’RE GOING TO HAVE HE’S HAD THE LAST COUPLE YEARS AND HAS HAD SUCCESS AS A GROUP. IT’S REAL HARD TO PREDICT OUR ROSTER THIS FAR OUT. WE’RE STILL TWO OR THREE WEEKS AWAY. BUT THE As THROUGH ACQUISITIONS, WAIVER CLAIMS, THEIR OWN DRAFTS, GREAT TALENT OF YOUNG PLAYERS. OF THEIR TOP 30 PROSPECTS, WE SHOULD HAVE ON OUR OPENING DAY ROSTER 13 OF THAT GROUP. SO WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN DO. SOME OF THE NAMES TO LOOK OUT FOR US, FRANKLIN BERETTO, RATED IN THE TOP 50 PROSPECTS THROUGHOUT BASEBALL. WE HAD HIM BRIEFLY AT THE END OF LAST YEAR FOR OUR PLAYOFF RUN. HE’S A YOUNG GUY. I THINK HE JUST TURNED 21. IF WE HAVE HIM FOR A FULL SEASON, WE’LL BE LUCKY. HE’S GOING TO HAVE A LONG BIG LEAGUE CAREER. MATT CHAPMAN A 3rd BASEMAN. HE’S ANOTHER GUYS THE As SEE A BRIGHT FUTURE IN. YOU DON’T SEE GUYS THROW 100 MILES AN HOUR A WHOLE LOT, BUT A GUY NAMED FRANKIE MANTAS THEY ACQUIRED FROM THE D DODGERS. IT’S A PRETTY COOL THING. WE’LL ENJOY HIM WHILE HE’S HERE. SEVERAL GUYS FROM LAST YEAR COMING BACK ARE SHORTSTOP SECOND BASEMAN CHAD PINDER. DANIEL GOSSET IS A RISING STAR. BRUCE MAXWELL. AND IN THE OUTFIELD MATT OLSON, BIG HOME RUN GUY, GOOD DEFENSIVE GUY. WE SHOULD SEE BACK TO START THE YEAR. SPRINKLED IN WITH THEM WILL BE VETERANS PLAYERS. THEIR ROSTER IS 25. WE’RE GOING TO GET SOME CUTS. MOST OF THOSE HAVEN’T HAPPENED YET. OUR SEASON STARTS APRIL 6 IN TEXAS. THE FIRST HOME GAME IS APRIL 11. SWITCHING OVER TO SOME EVENTS THAT WE HAVE, THIS IS JUST A SHORT LIST OF SOME OF THE EVENTS THAT WE HOST OUT HERE IN ADDITION TO SOUNDS BASEBALL. WITH PLAYOFF GAMES IF WE’RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO QUALIFY AGAIN, WE’LL HOST 74 TO 76 SOUNDS GAMES A YEAR. THAT LEAVES A LOT OF DAYS TO HOST OTHER EVENTS. WE’RE GOING INTO YEAR THREE OF THE BALLPARK, TRYING TO FIND OTHER WAYS FOR THE BALLPARK TO BE USED, NOT JUST FOR SPORTS. NEXT TUESDAY IS OPENING DAY FOR US. THE SOUNDS WON’T BE HERE, BUT WE’VE GOT VANDERBILT PLAYING BELMONT. THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY VANDERBILT WILL PLAY LIPSCOM HERE. THE ROCK ‘N ROLL MARATHON, I PUT IT ON HERE, BECAUSE THE MARATHON ROUTE RUNS THROUGH THE BALLPARK. THEY GET DO TO RUN DOWN THE FIE. MOST PEOPLE LOSE SECONDS AS THEY COME THROUGH THE BALLPARK FOR THE ONES THAT AREN’T RUNNING AT THE TOP. WE’VE GOT A COUPLE BREW FESTS IN THERE. THE WE WORK WITH CITY OF HOPE. THAT’S PART OF THE CMA FAN FESS CAL. FESTIVAL. IT’S A GAME WE’VE HOSTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THEIR GROUP GOING BACK LONGER THAN I’VE BEEN WITH THE SONGS, 20 SOME ODD YEARS, WHERE COUNTRY CELEBRITIES COME OUT. THE SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY I’LL GET TO IN A MINUTE. THAT’S OBVIOUSLY A VERY UNIQUE EVENT FOR NASHVILLE. YOU GUYS MAY NOT EVEN KNOW. I DON’T KNOW — YOU CAN PROBABLY ANSWER WHEN YOU GET UP HERE, BUT HOW OFTEN A FULL ECLIPSE COMES THROUGH. IT’S A VERY RARE OCCURRENCE. WE’LL SHOW THE PATH OF WHERE IT’S GOING TO GO. IT’S A CHANCE FOR US TO HAVE A COOL EVENT THAT WE’RE GOING TO PARTNER WITH SPORTS AUTHORITY AND THE MAYOR’S OFFICE AND MAKE IT A GREAT EVENT. AND THEN ADAM ALLUDED TO CONCERTS. THAT’S SOMETHING WE HAVEN’T DONE HERE YET. IT’S ANOTHER THING WE CAN DO. WE’VE PARTNERED WITH LIVE NATION AND WE’RE GOING TO HOST A COUPLE CONCERTS IN SEPTEMBER AND WE SHOULD HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL. BUT IT’S A BIG DEAL FOR US. OBVIOUSLY THERE’S A LOT OF VENUES IN TOWN. EVERYBODY HOSTS THESE. BUT ALL OF US ARE DIFFERENT SIZES. SO WE HOPE WE FIT INTO THE NICHE AND WE CAN START DOING THESE ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS. ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT STUFF BEFORE WE GET INTO KIND OF THE SOLAR ECLIPSE? OKAY. SO I’LL INVITE QUINTIN TO COME UP BECAUSE HE’S REALLY BEEN THE FRONT GUY ON THIS. HE COULD TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT ALL HE’S BEEN DOING, WHO WE’LL WORKING WITH. I’LL CHIP IN WITH STUFF FROM THE SOUND SIDE.>>THANKS, DOUG. GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE. QUINTIN, SPECIAL EVENT COORDINATOR FOR THE SPORTS AUTHORITY. SO KIND OF LIKE DOUG SAID, THIS SOLAR ECLIPSE IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY. S LAST TIME A SOLAR ECLIPSE LIKE THIS HAS TOUCHED NORTH AMERICA HAS BEEN ABOUT 99 YEARS. YEAH. IT’S BEEN ABOUT 99 YEARS. I’M PRETTY SURE NONE OF US WERE AROUND FOR THAT ONE. IT SHOULD BE A FIRST FOR EVERYONE AND PRETTY EXCITING. SO THE SOLAR ECLIPSE, AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS, GOES FROM THE NORTHEAST ALL THE WAY DIAGONAL THROUGH THE COUNTRY DOWN TO THE CAROLINAS. NASHVILLE IS THE LARGEST CITY THAT’S WITHIN THE TOTALITY PATH OF THE ECLIPSE THAT’S GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET A FULL ECLIPSE. SOME CITIES MIGHT GET A PARTIAL, LIKE ST. LOUIS, BUT NASHVILLE IS GOING TO GET A FULL ECLIPSE. ACTUALLY I’M ON THE SPECIAL EVENTS STAFF IN THE MAYOR’ OFFICE AND WE WERE CONTACTED BY THE ADVENTURE SCIENCE CENTER. THEY’VE HAD THIS ON THEIR RADAR FOR QUITE A TIME. THEIR EXPERTS ARE SAYING THAT BEING THAT THERE IS ABOUT TWO MILLION PEOPLE WITHIN ABOUT A DAY’S DRIVE OF NASHVILLE, POSSIBLY A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THEM COME TO NASHVILLE TO VIEW THE EVENT, WE COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY 500,000 PEOPLE IN NASHVILLE CONVERGING ON THE CITY TO PARTAKE IN EVERYTHING NASHVILLE HAS TO OFFER AND ALSO TAKE IN THE ECLIPSE AND VIEW IT. SO COULD POTENTIALLY BE A LOGISTICAL CHAOS NIGHTMARE.>>WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK IS THIS?>>IT’S ON A MONDAY, AUGUST 21. SO WE’VE BEEN BRAIM BRAINSTORMR FUN WAYS FOR PEOPLE TO VIEW THE ECLIPSE, MITIGATE TRAFFIC CONGESTION, TO KEEP EVERYBODY FROM STOPPING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TO PUSH PEOPLE OUT TO DIFFERENT CITY PARKS AND PLACES TO VIEW THE ECLIPSE SAFELY, WHERE WE WILL HAVE GLASSES THERE FOR EVERYONE TO BE ABLE TO VIEW THE ECLIPSE.>>AND METRO SCHOOLS ARE OUT.>>METRO SCHOOLS ARE ALSO OUT ON THAT DAY. YEAH. SO KIND OF WHAT WE FIGURED OUT TO MITIGATE TRAFFIC ON THAT DAY IS PARTNERED WITH THE DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP. THEY’RE GOING TO BE DONATING SHUTTLES ON THAT DAY. SO THAT WILL BE OUR LITTLE GIFT TO THE TRAFFIC GODS, THAT WE WON’T HAVE AS MANY PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. SO WE’RE GOING TO BE STAGING SHUTTLES FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE, THE COURTHOUSE AND ALSO NISSAN STADIUM. RIGHT NOW WE’RE WORKING ON PROGRAMMING FOR THE EVENT. POTENTIALLY OUR PROGRAMMING IS GOING TO CONSIST OF LIVE MUSIC. POSSIBLY THE NASHVILLE SYMPHONY WILL BE INVOLVED. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE GAMES WITH THE AUDIENCE. ASTRONOMERS WILL BE ON-SITE. CELEBRITY SCIENTISTS WILL BE GIVING TALKS. WE’RE GOING TO STREAM THAT ON THE GUITAR THAT’S OUT THERE. ALSO SCI FI MOVIE CLIPS LIKE STAR WARLS OR ET. WE’LL ALSO HAVE CLIPS LIKE THAT ON THE GUITAR AS WELL. TO F FINALIZE THAT, MAYOR BARRYS GOING TO THROW THE FIRST PITCH OF THE GAME. WE’VE MOVED THE GAME UP TO 4 RL, WHICH WILL BACK UP TO THE EVENT. WE HOPE PEOPLE WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE GAME AS WELL.>>WHAT TIME IS THE ECLIPSE?>>THE ECLIPSE IS AT 1:27 IN THE AFTERNOON. IT LASTS ABOUT A MINUTE AND A HALF. THAT’S THE TOTAL. THAT’S THE FULL ECLIPSE. SO THERE’S A PARTIAL ECLIPSE THAT’S BEFOREHAND THAT TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR FOR THE MOON TO MOVE IN FRONT OF THE SUN. THERE’S THAT MINUTE AND A HALF WHERE EVERYTHING GOES DARK. IT’S GOING TO GET A LITTLE COLDER. IT SHOULD BE A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. AFTER THAT THERE’S THE MOON& MOVING AWAY FROM THE SUN. THAT’S ANOTHER HOUR OR SO. YEAH. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?>>THIS IS A STUPID QUESTION. I SHOULD HAVE PAID ATTENTION IN SCIENCE CLASS. IF YOU LOOK AT AN ECLIPSE, DO YOU GO BLIND OR SOMETHING?>>SO YOU DON’T GO BLIND. KIND OF THE THING WITH THE GLASSES IS EVERYONE WANTS TO WEAR GLASSES BECAUSE SOMETHING’S GOING ON WITH THE SUN. YOU’RE GOING TO LOOK AT IT A LOT LONGER THAN YOU NORMALLY WOULD. IF YOU’RE CONSTANTLY LOOKING UP AT THE SUN FOR A COUPLE HOURS, YOU COULD POA TE POTENTIALLY HAE DAMAGE. THAT’S THE BENEFIT OF THE GLASSES.>>GOT IT. THANK YOU.>>YEAH. NO PROBLEM.>>SHE ALWAYS ASKS THE QUESTIONS THAT WE’RE ALL THINKING.>>I ASKED THE SAME QUESTION. THAT’S FINE.>>JUST GET CHRISTIE. SHE’LL DO IT.>>FOLLOWING UP ON WHAT THE SOUNDS ARE GOING TO DO, WE’RE LOOKING AT OPTIONS, BUT WE’RE HOPING TO HAVE AN ECLIPSE SPECIALTY JERSEY, MAYBE AN ALL-BLACK UNIFORM FOR THAT DAY TO GO WITH THAT EVENT. AND MAYBE SOME OTHER FUN STUFF. SO WE HAVEN’T RELEASED A LOT OF THE DETAILS PUBLICLY. WE’RE STILL WORKING. THE MAYOR’S OFFICE IS INVOLVED. WE HOPE TO GET THAT OUT DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL. SOMETIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE. IN A FUTURE MEETING I THINK WE CAN HAVE MORE DETAILS ON THIS. IT’S DEFINITELY SOMETHING FUN THAT WE CAN DO. WHAT A BETTER BACKDROP THAN TO HAVE THE ECLIPSE. TOUCHING BASE ON ALL THE EVENTS WE DO OUT HERE, IT’S A GREAT BACKDROP FOR THE CITY. WE WANT THIS TO BE USED. I MENTIONED SOME OF THE BIG EVENTS. I DIDN’T MENTION A LOT — WE HAVE LUNCHEONS UP HERE, DO THINGS FOR THE SPORTS COUNSELORS, A LOT OF CHARITY EVENTS OUT HERE. WE CONTINUE TO TRY TO GROW WORKING WITH ADAM, DESTINY AND HER PARTNERS TO TRY TO FIND WAYS THAT PEOPLE CAN BETTER USE THIS WONDERFUL PLACE FOR WHATEVER EVENT THEY MIGHT HAVE. SO THAT’S IT. I’M GOING TO CONCLUDE BY SHOWING THE BARRY ZITO VIDEO. WE’RE GOING TO USE PIECES OF IT IN SOME OF OUR COMMERCIALS, BUT USE IT IN THE BALLPARK. BEFORE WE GET INTO THAT, ANY QUESTIONS? OKAY. ♪ [APPLAUSE]>>SO MOST PEOPLE COME TO NASHVILLE FOR SOME REASON TO GET IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS. TWE HAPPEN TO HAVE A CY YOUNG WINNER THAT HELPED US OUT WITH THAT SONG. A LOT OF CREDIT. WE HAVE A MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION TEAM THAT PUT THAT TOGETHER AND DID A FANTASTIC JOB ON IT FOR US. THAT AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING WE DO IS ALL SELF-PRODUCED. IT’S AMAZING THE CREATIVE TALENTS WE HAVE IN THIS BUILDING WORKING ON A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT THINGS. THAT CONCLUDES OUR REPORT.>>CAN I SAY ONE THING?>>YES.>>I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOU AND YOUR TEAM TODAY. IT WAS A WONDERFUL PRESENTATION. THANK YOU SO MUCH. GOOD JOB.>>THANK YOU.>>WELL DONE. THANK YOU.>>OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE APRIL 20 AT BRIDGE STONE ARENA. DON’T FORGET TO LEAVE YOUR BINDERS HERE. WE WILL RECYCLE THOSE. AND IF THERE’S NO OTHER BUSINESS, WE’LL ENTERTAIN A MOTION TO ADJOURN.>>SO MOVE.>>SECOND.>>ALL IN FAVOR. [CHORUS OF AYES]>>THANK YOU. WE’RE ADJOURNED.
